Benromach Distillery
Benromach Distillery was established in 1898 and is renowned for its traditional methods and artisanal approach. Benromach emphasises the use of handcrafted techniques, including the use of traditional wooden washbacks and direct-fired copper pot stills. The distillery's whiskies are characterised by their rich and complex flavours, often featuring a balance of sherry influence with notes of fruit and subtle peaty smoke. After being closed in the 1990s, Benromach was revived in 1998 by the independent Gordon & MacPhail, who modernised the facilities while retaining traditional practices. The distillery has quickly gained recognition and numerous awards for its expressions, showcasing its dedication to quality and craftsmanship. Benromach offers tours that highlight its history and whisky-making process including their Mastery Tour which allows you to taste some rare and expensive whiskies.
Glen Moray Distillery
Glen Moray Distillery was established in 1897 and benefits from a unique microclimate that contributes to the character of its whiskies. Glen Moray produces a diverse range of expressions, often characterised by their smoothness, fruit-forward flavours, and a touch of sweetness. The distillery places a strong emphasis on traditional methods, including the use of copper pot stills, and maintains a commitment to quality and craftsmanship. 5.00If you want a once in a lifetime experience while visiting Scotland you need to book a private whiskey tasting tour with Gavin. From booking to the tour, Gavin was nothing but accommodating, communicative, generous, and knowledgeable. Gavin created a tailored itinerary centered around our interests and preferences as well as his personal recommendations. We had so much fun with Gavin and were able to try countless drams of truly amazing and unique whiskeys. I will note that tour fees and distillery tastings are separate. In addition, Gavin also has many whiskeys to try from his private collection. Gavin truly provided a seamless and unforgettable experience, can’t recommend this tour enough!

5.00Great experience and far better than a generic white-van tour allowing us to tailor destinations and visit distilleries that are not readily available in stores in the states. We visited several locations and lunched at the Highlander Inn, which is also highly rated as one of the best whisky bars to visit. Peter was a fantastic guide on our Speyside whisky tour and we would definitely book again.
