Escape from the crowded tourist areas for a private, 90-minute, 1-on-1 surf lesson near Lahaina, Maui. Choose from an early-, mid-, or late-morning time frame. This surf session will focus on water safety, proper surf technique, surfing style, and etiquette. The experienced, professional instructor guarantees students will stand up, catch a wave, and leave the beach as a certified surfer. All lessons are private so they will never combine guests from separate parties. All the necessary equipment — rash guard, state-of-the-art soft-top board, and reef shoes — included.

During a private, one-on-one surf lesson, you will receive personalized instruction, customized to help you achieve your surfing goals. Private, one-on-one lessons are perfect for first-time surfers who want to learn the fundamentals of surfing or for intermediate surfers who want to improve their skills, practice catching bigger waves, or carving better turns. These surf lessons are done with a fun and professional instructor by your side throughout the entire hour and a half lesson.

Sooooooo AWESOME! Sharkey was my instructor and was the best! He taught me how to read the water, safely get in position, time the paddle- and within minutes I was surfing my first Ocean wave. Thank you Rivers to the Sea for making my life long Hawaiian surfing dreams come true. I’m hooked!

Kane was excellent!! Calm voice to talk with and gave clear direction. He made it very quick and easy to learn how to stand up on the board, which was my biggest concern. But once we we out there, I rode the first wave. I would highly recommend a lesson with him.

Great lesson, learned a ton, caught some waves and had a great time! Hubby was there to take photos and videos which was great. Jason was wonderful and I'd totally do it again!

Absolutely an incredible experience. We took our 14 year old who had never surfed before and he had the most amazing time. Eric had him standing on his 3rd try, made the whole thing so much fun. We had such a good time that we booked him again for 3 days later, we were lucky because with Maui only just reopening meant there was a chance for him to go again- loved it that much. They send very, very clear directions and you can connect with them by phone once you are near marker 12.5 to find each other. Never a problem or worry, will definitely do this again when we are in Maui- they just couldn't be more amazing.

Eric was wonderful! He trained me how to stand up on the surf board on the beach. He was really good at teaching me how to surf. I caught several waves. I had never snowboarded, wakeboarded, or even skate boarded and I STILL got up on that surf board and ride the waves. He was extremely friendly and fun to talk to in between waves. I highly recommend this excursion!!

Kody was an exceptional instructor. He made me feel comfortable right away and very safe even though I was a first-time surfer. He spent time talking about the proper techniques so that when I was in the water, I was ready to surf. I would not hesitate to recommend Rivers to the Sea and specifically, Kody, to anyone looking for a private surf lesson in the Lahaina area.
