Our Beatrix Potter's Favourite Countryside Private Tour is the perfect tour for small groups of families or friends who wish to have a more intimate experience whilst travelling the Lake District. Our 16 seater Mercedes Sprinter is a luxury, comfortable minibus which will allow you to explore the Lakes in style.
This half day tour introduces you to the incredible landscapes and cultures which shaped Beatrix Potter's incredible stories. Travel through valleys and forests and visit the beauty spots which inspired her work which is beloved the world over.
Attractions such as lake cruise and entry into Hill Top is not included, but can be arranged. Please contact us to make these bookings.

Infants and children are welcome on our private tours. Please let us know at the time of booking if you require an infant seat or booster seat. All children must have their own seat, you will not be able to travel if children and infants do not have their own seat.

5.00A wonderful day out, with a very jolly and knowledgeable tour guide. Thank you Jean. Unfortunately the seats were rather narrow on the coach which made traveling time rather squashed and uncomfortable.

5.00Our group of six had a great day with Gordon on a custom 8 hour tour of the area around Windermere, visiting Wray Castle, Beatrix Potter's Hill Top retreat, Tarn Hows, and Hawkshead, and finishing up with an enjoyable visit to Sizergh Castle. Gordon is very knowledgeable about the history and geography of Cumbria and the life of Beatrix Potter, and he graciously answered our many questions while skillfully and patiently negotiating one-lane roads, blind turns, and steep hills in a 16-passenger minibus. We particularly enjoyed his back alleys tour of Hawkshead, where we encountered the village haunts of the young William Wordsworth without encountering any other tourists! We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast dinner at the Queens Head pub in Hawkshead, where the food was delicious and the service efficient and cheerful. We thoroughly explored Sizergh Castle in the afternoon and got a little carried away in the gift shop. It was a lovely day spent in a lovely setting with a very pleasant and well-informed guide. Thank you!

5.00Gerry was our driver for the Beatrix Potter tour and Shery took us on the Wordsworth tour. I can thoroughly recommend them both. We had a brilliant time both days. A wealth of information from them both and very good drivers. Lots of photo stops. We were a group of 16 staying in Keswick and were picked up where we were staying and dropped back again. Both very friendly and good company.

5.00We had an amazing time. Gerry the driver was a wealth of knowledge and very passionate about Beatrix Potter. He stopped at lots of places for a photo opportunity and recommended that we visit the Gingerbread shop in Grasmere when we passed as there was only a small queue. He was a very capable driver and very friendly. Would thoroughly recommend these tours.

5.00We were a group of 6 people across three generations and went on a Wordsworth - Beatrix Potter tour with pickup from Keswick. Clearly one of our best decisions! Our guide, Dave, was on time and absolutely professional. His length and breadth of knowledge on everything in the Lake District blew us away! It was lovely to hear him recite some of our favorite Wordsworthian verses from memory! It was a truly enriching experience and we highly recommend Dave and the Mountain Goat tours. “ The world is too much with us; late and soon, Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers; Little we see in Nature that is ours; We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!”

5.00Thx to Dave our driver and very knowledgeable Beatrix Potter tour guide for a wonderful afternoon touring so many of the places special to Miss Potter. Definitely worth the money doing the tour privately and happy to recommend Mountain Goat tours and particularly Dave for a great day out.
