Discover the unique markets outside of Bangkok on this market adventure tour. Head to the famous Maeklong Railway Market where vendors set up their goods along an active railway line and see what happens when the train comes through. Then head to the Damnoen Saduak floating market and weave through waterways as vendors sell their various goods. Purchase souvenirs or some delicious Thai treats before heading back to Bangkok.

You must arrive at the meeting point ON TIME. Due to the train schedule at the Railway Market, we will not be able to wait longer than 5 minutes. We recommend aiming to be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes prior to the tour start time.
Children between the ages of 6 and 11 inclusively are permitted on this tour at the rate listed above. Please select ‘child’ above when booking. Children below the age of 6 are not permitted on this tour.
Please note, if any of the sites in the itinerary happen to be closed due to reasons beyond our control, an alternative site will be visited.

Local Impact: How you will help the local community by joining this tour: Instead of visiting one of the many palm sugar plantations that have been set up for tourists to see and learn about the process, we visit a local family at their village plantation where they make palm sugar daily throughout the year. The family have been here for generations and bringing our small groups provides some additional income for them.

Mae Klong Railway Market (Hoop Rom Market)
You'll start your tour with a drive-by private vehicle to the railway market, about 1.5 hours from Bangkok. Please be on time for your tour! We'll need to leave at 6:30 am sharp or you'll miss the excitement at the surreal railway market. And trust us, you need to see it to believe it! Vendors set up their goods along active railway tracks, with fresh produce, fabrics, cooking supplies and more all lined up a mere few inches from the track's edge (and in some cases, right on top of the tracks). You'll get to see what happens when the train comes through: vendors gather up their things and lower their canopies, and both vendors and shoppers step aside as the train travels right through the middle of the market. Once the train leaves, business resumes as though nothing had disrupted them! Between the train schedule, your guide will lead you around the market and introduce you to traditional Thai foods, from desserts to snacks to fresh fruits. We'll then continue on a short drive to a palm sugar plantation, where we'll visit the house of a villager who still makes palm sugar the traditional way. There are a lot of coconut palm tree plantations in Thailand, and the local wisdom of making organic palm sugar from the nectar of coconut flowers has been passed down from generation to generation.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Onward, we'll board a small boat for a ride through narrow village canals, to reach the famous floating market of Damnoen Saduak — keep your camera ready as this place is a non-stop photo op. If anything catches your eye along your boat ride, let your guide know and you can stop to chat with vendors and purchase something to take home (or to eat right there!). We'll then depart the boat and walk around to explore more of the market. You'll find a variety of Thai foods, such as seasonal tropical fruits from local orchards, as well as souvenirs, all available on both river banks. Around noon, we'll head back to Bangkok and return you to the meeting point which is right next to BTS (Skytrain) station National Stadium. Your local guide will be happy to give you directions back to your accommodation or to other sites you should see.

5.00Pam our tour guide was great. She explained everything. We had fun trying various fruits and snacks. We rode the train to the market and then watched it leave and went to floating market. We also saw coconut sugar plantation. Great day. Educational and fun

5.00Pam was a great guide, she also took us where locals visits, ineresting. She really paid attention all details, and cared us a lot. Especially Railway market experience was nice, was more realistic than floating market. Floating market is very commercialized, show.

5.00This tour with Pam and Tik Tok was the first thing my friend and I did in Thailand and it was absolutely perfect. We were only in Bangkok for 36 hours but we knew we wanted to see the famous markets in shows like Somebody Feed Phil and Parts Unknown. Pam and Tik Tok picked us up at our hotel for our private tour and we had the best 6 hours. We arrived at the railway market before the crowds so we were able to explore and shop with ease. Pam also had clearly built relationships with vendors there so we had prime viewing spots for the passing of the train. She was so nice and funny and extremely knowledgeable. Tik Tok was a great driver and the van was in great shape with crisp A/C. 10/10 recommend this incredible tour!! You won’t regret it and ask for Pam!

5.00we booked the trip via Marriott Bonvoy app (lnked with viator/TA) - to get some points (that has yet to be received on our end), but anyway, it was truly the highlight of our holiday! Guided by the ever so friendly and knowledgeable Ms Apple, we started the day in Maeklong train station - arrived in 8.30am to catch the 1st train there and back! we got to sit in a coffee shop beside the railway and got out to catch the train chugging beside us, what an experience. Next on to the coconut processing village - yummy coconuts! lastly, we went to Damnoensaduak Floating Market - also one unique experience, buying souvenirs on a boat! Finished the trip and back in Bangkok town by 2pm - time well spent! Thanks a lot Ms Apple and Bangkok Urban Adventures!

5.00Excellent informative trip. We spent the morning with Nai , our guide and Manit our driver. Was picked up at the hotel as we were the only people on the trip. Nai was super friendly and we spent the trip to MaeKhlong exchanging stories nuggets our cultures and where to find good food in Bangkok. At MaeKhlong, Nai brought us to sample the local Thai fare ( mainly sweet desserts) and a look into a traditional Thai Market. We also visited a family run coconut sugar farm. (Look out for the super cute and friendly family dog - Fifa) Explored an authentic floating market and more than ample time to explore the market ourselves and sample the local fare. Manjit was instrumental in us reaching our destinations on time (especially to watch the train pass by the market). An excellent safe and experienced driver. Vehicle was clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this trip. Learnt and experience Thai life outside of Bangkok

5.00Amazing trip! My partner and I were the only ones on the trip making it a private tour. Pokémon, our guide was very attentive to our needs. He found us great spots for taking pictures and even bought us gifts - we truely appreciated all his efforts The railway market was really impressive and you do need to see it to believe it! Loved the coconut farm where you get to meet the owner and see the whole process of making coconut sugar. The owner seemed proud and happy to be welcoming tourists The floating market is one of a kind and captures the early days of trading over water Overall really enjoyed this tour. Couldn't have ask for more from Pokémon and Urban Adventures 🙏

5.00Great tour! famous market and hidden gems:) This tour includes visiting an authentic market and what I enjoyed so much - local family that produce coconut sugar, it was exciting and informative journey, I would like to thank our beautiful guide Pam for this amazing day, Pam is a very friendly, energetic, positive person, I felt like traveling with a friend, we had a small group of 6 and all the way was comfy and fun. Highly recommend
