On this private tour, we combine beautiful landscapes and the historic sites of Kinderdijk and Delft. Our experienced guides Eva and Sarah are skilled drivers and great hosts!

First we visit UNESCO world heritage site Kinderdijk, with its 19 windmills keeping the land dry for centuries! A boat tour and visit to the mills and pumping station is included.

We continue to the picturesque city of Delft, home to the famous Royal Delft Blue china factory! We first visit the town with its canals and gables and there will be time to visit the "new" and the "old" churches, with the graves of William of Orange and many other royalties. Or the Vermeer Center, dedicated to the life and work of the famous painter Johannes Vermeer. Around the market square and famous town hall there will be time for lunch.

Before we head back to Amsterdam we visit the Royal Delft china factory and flagship store, with plenty of time to buy beautiful souvenirs!

World Heritage Kinderdijk

Our first stop for the day will be at the unique UNESCO world heritage Kinderdijk windmills. A system of windmills and pumps has been draining the water from the polder soil into the river for centuries. Over the years, the systems were improved, combining human wits, technology, and nature to work together to keep our feet dry, already for over 700 years! Admire the 19 original windmills in their stunning historical environment. You can enter a working mill to discover the personal stories of the millers and/or take a cruise for a better view from the water!

Delft

The sights of Delft, with its canals, gables, and towers, are extremely picturesque. The town is a lot smaller than Amsterdam, but just as pretty (and most important: with less tourists). Delft is home of the world-famous Delft Blue pottery and a visit to the factory, where you can see the process of making the beautiful pottery, is included. After that, you will have time to explore the city center on your own or with our experienced guide to tag along, just as you please. See the famous churches and marketplace, home to Vermeer. As it is your day out, we can custom tailor the tour upon your wishes. In Delft there will be time to have lunch as well.

This was my family's second time going on a Dutch Tours excursion (we previously did the De Haar castle tour, which was just as wonderful) and it did not disappoint! Visiting Kinderdijk earlier on in the day before the rush of tourists was well worth the earlier departure time. It was gorgeous there and a peaceful experience to start off the day. Delft was a beautiful city and we had plenty of time for lunch and exploring the town before heading to the pottery museum, which is so well done and informative. It was a great pairing of locations that provided a relaxing day away from the bustling of Amsterdam. Eva was a great tour guide both times—she's accommodating, a wealth of knowledge, and great at snapping quality family pics! If we're ever in the Netherlands again, we'd love to do another tour with her. (Also, if you can, definitely book directly through their website!)

I’ve rarely had such a positive feeling about a guide. Eva was so authentic and knowledgeable. Worth every penny. Be sure to ask her about how her Jewish family survived WWII in hiding from the Nazis and produced a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Wonderful tour of the Kinderdijk windmills with a trip to historic Delft. We had a wonderful time. Our guide Eva was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful, informative tour. It was pouring rain that day but it was still our best tour of our trip. Well worth it. Eva was like a good friend by the end of the tour. She answered any question we had about living in the Netherlands during our drive. She explained about life living in the windmills and showed us everything she was explaining. She had a good rapport with all venders. Afterward she took us to Delft and gave us some free time to shop where we wanted and recommended a great restaurant to have lunch. Then she took us to the Delft factory where we went on a tour. We had a great time and would highly recommend Dutch Tours.

All 7 in our family (kids, parents and grandparents) had an amazing day with Eva! The Kinderdijk windmills were beautiful and interesting on so many levels. Delft is a gorgeous town (especially the views from the Cathedral bell tower) and the hand-painted pottery and factory tour is really fascinating. The drive also gives a really great impression of the Netherlands countryside. Eva is a great host and went the extra mile to make sure we had a wonderful tour.

The peacefulness of the Kinderdijk Windmills in such a beautiful natural setting surpassed all expectations! Tour guide, Sarah was instantly approachable and we feel as if we have made a dear friend. Her knowledge was invaluable in allowing us an immersive day trip into Dutch culture and history. Delft on market day and the royal Delft factory rounded out our lovely day! Shout out to our intern, Carlo, who added a youthful perspective.

I had a wonderful time on this tour which included the UNESCO site at Kinderdijk to see the windmills and then a trip to Delft city to see the sites there, including the Royal Delft Factory. It was an informative trip and Eva was a great as a guide, professional and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend this if one is short on time and needed a good tour company to take them sightseeing.

We had a blast visiting the windmills at Kinderdijk and Dalft. Eva was fantastic, knowledgeable and fun. She was right on time, the car was spotless, and the ride was easy. The windmills are spectacular and Dalft is beautiful. Highly recommended!!
