• Guide did not turn up, no reaction from tour operator

  We booked this trip one or two days in advance and got confirmation. However, when we waited at the indicated address (which is anyway the most unusal meeting place), no guide turned up. All in all we waited for about 30 minutes. We contacted the tour operator through the viator chat function, but till today, three weeks later, we haven't go any reaction at all. When I checked the proposed itinerary, I realized that it is full of errors. The indicated itinerary is in reverse order of meeting and end place, one place (Museu da Gastronomia Maranhense) is listed twice and the Palacio dos Leoes is listed as a 30 minute visit although it has been closed to the public for a while. We then decided to explore the old town of São Luís on our own. The area is easy to walk in, we felt safe and discovered many interesting streets and places. Lovely city, we liked it (even without the guide).

  It was very nice experience, Manu's guide is excellent, explanations in detail, very friendly, every place, every moment a historical fact to know, very good to know the places of our country, I am from RJ and now I can say that São Luiz is in my heart.

  Manu guide is super prepared! It was a very rich tour of information. In addition, several things that I had already heard somewhere, came with many more details in her presentation! Excellent really!!! We love!

• Sao luis centro is the most dangerous place

  The meeting place for this tour is on a most dangerous location in Sao Luis. As we attended the tour meeting place, we were attacked by 2 people. They attacked my wife and while one of them threatening me by knife, the other one stole my wife's phone. There are many people around and just watching as if this is normal in Sao Luis. It was 10:20 am. if you want to be alive, do not stay in Sao Luis. If you want to visit Barrienhas or Lencyos national park, take a transfer to those area but do not stay in Sao Luis. This tour compay is one of the worse company. When we contacted them the night before the tour and told them the location is like a bus stop, they did not bother to call. After we told them that we were attacked, they did not respond anymore to find out what happened to us. We booked our tour via Expedia and we told them about the incident and they refund us and promise to nvestigate. .

  Angela was great! She told us all about the historic center in Sao Luís, the people, and showed us how incredible Sao Luis is. We learned a lot! We appreciated the tour being in English as we don’t speak Portugese. Overall great experience!

  Everything interesting was built over 100 years ago. The center is very small and needs a renovated, but with some interesting buildings. Manu's Guide helped to understand the various stages of the place's history.

• Valid for an overview of the historic centre

  The tour is valid for those who have limited time and who actually see the historic center. Very light walk, suitable for local heat. Reasonably well-informed guide, though confusing with dates. It takes to places that if alone would not go due to lack of visible information, as a mirror in the building of the Municipal Secretariat of the Farm. Worth the tour
