  I have been white water rafting and kayaking a bunch over the years and rafted down the Ocoee before. This was by far one of the best if not the best trip I have been on. Our river guide Will, was absolutely amazing. He was hilarious the whole trip, knowledgeable of the river and all around a good person to share the river with. On top of all that, he let us surf as much as we wanted, swim where it was safe to and even showed me the "mystery move". The whole staff at Cherokee Rafting were amazing, from the front desk to our river safety watch Cherokee. And it was extremely affordable! I would highly suggest anyone planning a trip to Tennessee to take the time and do the high adventure trip with Cherokee Rafting.

  We booked the high adventure personal experience this weekend. My boyfriend and I were able to raft just the 2 of us in a Puma raft with Travis as our guide! This was by far the best experience we've ever had in the Ocoee river. I don't think we could raft it any other way from this point forward. We will always use Cherokee rafting anytime we come to the Ocoee. All the guides were amazing and catered to their party and gave each party the adventure they wanted!

  Travis our tour guide was excellent he catered the tour to our adventurous level. We experienced wave riding and rapid surfing. He took the time for a hike and swim. Rebekah was also a guide who came along in a duckie. Dean and I both share a kiss while wave surfing awesome. Will be back.

  My wife, two daughters (20 and 17) and I chose to go on the "High Adventure/Private" rafting tour with Cherokee rafting. For the average person looking to save time reading, YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS AND SHOULD BOOK IT IMMEDIATELY. If you are an experienced rafter and are looking for miles of class 4 rapids, choose the "upper river tour" and not this one. Also, be certain you are booking on a day when there is a scheduled release from the dam. I believe Cherokee Rafting only operates on those days, but the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) website can confirm which dates are scheduled for water release. OK, for more details. We were staying in Chattanooga, so it took about an hour to arrive at the Cherokee Rafting property in Ocoee. There, we were fitted with protective gear and placed on a "short bus" which took us and the other 2 private parties to the launch point, which is just below the dam in the middle river. Our guide was Ethan, and I would unequivocally suggest asking for him or Travis by name. The first thing he wanted to do was establish parameters for how adventurous we were willing to be. We then went over some basics maneuvers and how to best seat ourselves in the sportier small raft. After that, we set down in the water. We ended up being out on the water somewhere between 5 and 6 hours. We stopped to swim, hike, and enjoy eddies at various points. At no time did we feel rushed, and the entire time Ethan led us to spots on the river which I am sure nobody other than he or Travis knows are there (or know how to navigate). We spend ample time "couch surfing", which was my favorite activity, with a close record being jumping off of a few rocks in notoriously deeper waters with strong currents. For those of you asking "should I book the regular tour or the adventure tour", BOOK THE ADVENTURE TOUR. It is 100% worth the additional money. Especially if you can get either Travis or Ethan as your guide. This was so good, my family is considering driving from Indiana to Tennessee again to just do this. Presumably you are looking into this because you like the idea of whitewater rafting. BOOK NOW.

  This was our first time on the Ocoee River and we had an amazing trip. Our guide, Travis, was AWESOME! A+++ all around!! We highly recommend Cherokee Rafting for an unforgettable experience!

• High Adventure White Water - Best Trip Ever!

  What an awesome time! Ethan, Will and Max were our guides. Couldn’t have had a better crew. High Adventure trip is a must for those that want a lot more excitement. Boats are so much more maneuverable so the guides can really personalize the trip to your excitement level. Our group had the moms that wanted to chill (poor Ethan), four teenage boys (Max) and the two dads and a daughter (most extreme-Will). We even caught a kayaker in our boat! The guides were completely professional at all times and always concerned with our safety. The rafting was a blast. Stopped at a few places along the route for snacks and some swimming and jumping from the rocks into the river. This is a must do trip with an awesome company. Saw many rafts filled with guests on the river and they all floated by with envy of our High Adventure white water trip. No more beach trips for us. We will be back!

  Honestly we have rafted a lot of places around the country and were worried we would be disappointed. We were completely wrong! Aaron our guide really taught a master class on the water and technical way to approach things. We actually learned about rafting! It was very cool. Highly recommend! The other raft had a guide named Will and he was great too. My boys gave him a hard time and he took it really well. The company was very professional and we enjoyed the corn hole and other activities before departure.

  June 9, 2025 my wife and I had booked another rafting trip on the Ocoee River in Tennessee with Cherokee Rafting. a few years ago we had done the middle river with a group of 6 of us and our guide wich was really fun. This year we tried something a little more interesting, the High Adventure experience with just the 2 of us. a smaller and faster raft, and our sensational guide Travis! His 17 plus yrs rafting allowed us a truly thrilling day on the river. Not only his rafting skills, but his knowledge and stories of the area, the stops we made along the river banks to explore animals, reptiles, and nature made for a day of thrills and beauty. So if you’re looking for a day of fast water, surfing across, through, against and over rapids. stopping and catching your breath with nature and just really learning about the river and the whole experience. Book this trip with Travis… we couldn’t have felt more safe doing something we know little about but feeling more and more confident under his guidance as he explained and moved us along. actually everyone else at Cherokee Rafting were friendly, outgoing and were really concerned for everyone’s safety and comfort as well.
