Puma Punku

Pumapunku o Puma Punku ( en aymara y quechua , "Puerta del Puma") es un montículo artificial con terrazas en forma de T, estratégicamente alineado, del siglo VI, con un patio hundido y una estructura monumental en la cima, cerca de Tiwanaku, La Paz , Bolivia. Forma parte del complejo Pumapunku, en el sitio arqueológico de Tiwanaku , un antiguo complejo arqueológico en los Andes del oeste de Bolivia, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Pumapunku or Puma Punku (Aymara and Quechua, "Gate of the Puma") is a 6th-century, strategically aligned, T-shaped terraced artificial mound with a sunken courtyard and monumental structure on top, near Tiwanaku, La Paz, Bolivia. It is part of the Pumapunku complex, at the Tiwanaku archaeological site, an ancient archaeological complex in the Andes of western Bolivia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    I booked this tour based on the belief they would pick us up from our hotel. One day prior to the tour, once the payment had gone through, I got a Whatsapp text telling me to meet at the city's Old Train Station early the next morning. I also thought transportation to the ruins would be shared with other people on the same tour. But that turned out not to be a correct assumption either, as I was informed we would be taking public buses with local people going about their daily lives. Upon hearing all this, I tried to cancel for breach of contract but they denied my request. Please beware.

    No show after booking confirmed! I waited 40 minutes and messaged the provider..no response. I now have wasted a vacation day since the tour was 7 hours

    THEY DIDNT PUCK ME UP AT ALL. I had to walk half an hour to the meeting point as they wouldn’t collect from my apartment and then they didn’t even bother to collect me. Avoid this company and avoid Viator.

    Easy walk with a minimal amount of uphill and a minimal amount of stairs. You begin in Tiwanaku, see the whole complex, then visit the museums and seethe 7 meter (22 foot) tall obelisk unearthed at the sight. Then you go to Puma Punku, which is not a large site. See the H blocks and other oddly bored stones. Just remember a fair portion of the tour is getting to and from the sight.

    Amazing experience with great guide! He knows everything about the local area and the history! He is very friendly and accommodating and goes out of his way to show you even more about the current and past Bolivian culture and food!
