We arranged a tour for a large group from a cruise ship visit to Puerto Madryn to go to the Punta Tombo penguin rookery. From first contact with Sussanich Turismo approximately 10 months pre-cruise they were extremely helpful and professional. All pre cruise contact to confirm tour group participants and payment of deposits was managed really well. On the day of the tour we were met at the port and were provide with a really excellent tour guide, Mariana, who gave us lots of information on the long journey to the rookery. Unfortunately due to very windy weather and a busy road it took longer than expected to reach Punta Tombo so we only had around 50 minutes there before needing to return to the port for an early departure of the cruise ship. However we all really enjoyed seeing the penguins and it was worth the long trip. We were back at the ship 45 minutes before gangway up time. We wish the cruise line would spend longer in Puerto Madryn as most of the best things to do are a long journey from the port. We would definitely recommend Sussanich Turismo if you are needing a tour company in Puerto Madryn. The other bonus was the cost of the tour was significantly less than the cruise ship equivalent tour.

This trip was excellent. The guide was very good - friendly and informative. It is a 2-3 hour journey to get there but the bus was comfy enough and the packed lunch was tasty and plentiful. Puerto Tomba was incredible. You really do get to walk amongst penguins and there are plenty of them! There are Ranges around to make sure you don't distress them but its so lovely to see them in their natural habitat and yet be so close. Highly recommend this trip.

Unfortunately because I fell the day before and suffered a concussion my husband and I decided not to go on this trip but our fellow travelers did and they thoroughly enjoyed it!

We did the Punta Tombo Shore Tour from Puerto Madryn as Celebrity cruise passengers in January, and it was hands-down one of the best days of our trip. The logistics were smooth and stress-free: clear meeting instructions, comfortable transportation, and a well-paced itinerary with enough time at each stop. We also really appreciated that Diana kept a close eye on timing, so we never had to worry about getting back to the ship. Punta Tombo itself is unforgettable. The trails are lined with Magellanic penguin burrows, and the penguins are everywhere—waddling right across the path like they own the place. Seeing the baby penguins was the sweetest highlight (tiny, fluffy, and surprisingly bold). We also spotted guanacos/“llamas” along the way, which made it feel even more like a Patagonian wildlife safari. Diana was an excellent guide—organized, friendly, and full of interesting facts, plus she pointed out details we would have missed.

If you’re visiting Puerto Madryn on a Celebrity cruise, this Punta Tombo shore excursion is a must—especially in January. Everything was very well managed: easy meetup, comfortable ride, and a schedule that felt efficient without being rushed. Diana was fantastic at keeping the group informed (what to expect, how much walking, when we’d stop), and we felt completely confident about returning to port on time. And the wildlife was unreal. Punta Tombo is like stepping into a nature documentary—penguins all around the marked paths, popping in and out of burrows, and waddling past you at close range. The best part was seeing the baby penguins, which made the whole experience even more special. We also saw guanacos/“llamas”. Diana made the day better with her calm leadership and great knowledge. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a smooth, well-run tour with truly memorable wildlife.
