Quebec City is nice to see in a day. The waterfall is lovely, castle is quite nice and the town is fun to walk around. The art gallery is one of my favs in the world! But overall, while the tour guides were nice the instructions could have been clearer and more could have been provided from them.

The coach driver and the tour guide were both professional and congenial. Information on when to meet the bus and where was concise and repeated a few times so that you felt comfortable. The tour of Quebec and the falls was just right. We had a couple of hours just to roam around by ourselves.

The coach was comfortable and we appreciated the nearby hotel pickup, despite them being about 30 minutes late. Our driver was friendly and helpful throughout the day. Quebec City is adorable and we wish we had more time to spend there. Unfortunately that’s where the good part ends. The staff at the check in was rather unfriendly, and asserted that our 2 year old “didn’t have a seat” despite him being included on the reservation. Because they don’t charge for children under four, we didn’t actually exchange money for him to be able to join us, but he was included on the reservation. She asserted that he might have to stand or ride in a lap, which I politely declined. On the tour itself, the guide was friendly but had no microphone and made precisely zero effort to amplify her voice in any way. It was impossible to hear her. There was another tour adjacent to ours and I learned more from their guide than I did our own. We mentioned to her that it was difficult to hear, and she simply suggested we “move closer” (it was drizzling and most had umbrellas deployed, making that suggestion less than practical). So we didn’t get much from the historical perspective about the city. The falls was a bit disappointing. You can’t get very close for nice pictures, etc. There is a small shop there with coffee and snacks, which was nice. Overall, I would definitely recommend Quebec City, but you’re probably better off renting a car and exploring on your own.

It was a very nice tour. Quebec City is a little gem, even for us Europeans who are used to old-style towns. The guide was wonderful, although we would have liked her to stay with us a bit longer during our visit to Quebec. The driver was also great—he shared a lot of interesting information along the way. It’s a good idea to bring some food with you, as the time allowed for buying food (and eat it on the bus) is short and the selection at the highway rest stop is quite limited. Also, bring some cash for tipping the driver and the guide. You can exchange money at the shop, but it only gives Canadian $20 bills. Finally, note that the bus takes you around Upper Quebec for the guided tour, and then brings you down to Lower Quebec at the end. They suggest taking the funicular ($5) to return to Upper Quebec, since Lower Quebec is small and mostly covered during the short walking tour with the guide. However, the walk back up isn’t long or too steep, so that’s an option too. They’ll also mention that the funicular does’t accept credit cards, but they actually do. A very nice experience as a whole. I would recommend it to other tourists.
