Overall this was an incredible experience and the desert is absolutely beautiful and a definite must see for anyone travelling to the area. Our driver was exceptional, polite and right on time with pick up. The whole event was fun filled and almost felt magical. The food was also of a very high standard and the entertainment was great. The only slight flaw was the hard sell! I was aware additional items would be available for sale and the market style stalls were visible upon entry but when we were trying to sit down and eat our food and enjoy the scenery, we were approached multiple times by sellers not taking no for an answer (selling sand sculptures, necklaces, perfumes, shisha pipes, photos amongst other things)! We ended up spending considerably more money than we really wanted to! In addition to this, some of the sellers appeared to even be in competition with each other i.e. the man who took us on a camel ride insisted on taking my phone to capture photos which I initially thought was a nice gesture until I realised he wanted to take pictures so we didn't have to purchase the professional photos being taken by another man and we would therefore pay him rather than the photographer! He was so keen to impress us at one point he let go of the camel to run into the distance and left us to work out how to direct a camel! We ended up purchasing two of the professional photos but the photographer wasn't impressed and as we left he followed us and told us we could have the remaining 3 photos as they were only going to be wasted and he wanted us to treasure our memories but when I went to take them he asked for 200aed and when I refused as I had no money left he took them and walked away so clearly didn't want us to have them that much! I am by no means an expert on camels or the culture so not best placed to really comment but I can only assume animal lovers may also find the animal welfare side difficult as we witnessed the camels being whipped to make them stand up and move faster and also some camels were tied up by their feet rather than being able to roam freely (not all of the camels were in this position and some were able to roam freely within sizable enclosures but I believe some of the camels are owned by different people). Overall amazing experience and with a few tweaks would be perfect!

We booked this trip during a stay in RAK. Family of four two adults and a five and eight year old. We had a very knowledgeable driver who took us through the days itinerary. We picked up another two adults who sat in the back third seat row. So 1 driver and 6 passengers. The vehicle was clean and well looked after. It was a landcruiser so more than apt for the dune bashing it got. The dune driving was great fun and the kids loved it. Never felt it was been pushed to far and we were in danger. The desert area is very picturesque with lovely red sand. You get an opportunity to walk up sand Ines and feel the hot soft sand under your feet, and see camels wandering around. We went on to pay extra to take two quads out on a tamer route. Again the kids loved this aspect. Afterwards we had a go at sandboarding. (note the hardest part is getting to the top of the sand dune). It was really nice to sit outdoors in the dessert for the buffet meal and evening entertainment. The entertainment was really good, culminating in a fire/ flame entertainer. All in all a really good value trip. Which we were able to book the day before.
