Recommended excursion for the organization, the overview of the Sami people and the relationship with reindeer. We chose that evening that maybe penalizes photos with reindeer but if you are lucky you can witness a spectacular northern lights, as happened to us 😀

On Sunday, February 1st, we participated in the activity "Dinner at a reindeer camp with a chance of Northern Lights in Tromsø," organized by Tromsø Arctic Reindeer. The bus ride there provided a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Feeding the reindeer was fun, but not very exciting. Dinner in the tent turned out to be well-prepared. It was a shame that the explanation of Sami culture didn't go beyond a superficial story. The main point was that the Sami were colonized by the Norwegians, with all the negative consequences. A more positive story would have been more appropriate. It's okay to experience it once, but not something to repeat.

200 plus reindeer and wonderful Sami hosts telling stories after dinner - great night out. The vegetarian food was good if you don’t want to eat reindeer!

Great time with family. Reindeer are numerous in a huge enclosure, very nice. Meals in a place heated by wood fire, friendly. Not the best meal of the stay but unlimited snack. County stories very nice.

An absolutely fantastic experience! The staff of the company were wonderful and friendly from communication, to help with an issue, to transport, to guidance and explanation during the experience, and the Sami people involved were a delight, funny, insightful, and we were beyond lucky to have them share their stories and a bit of their way of life. Not to mention the experience itself, amazing interactions and feeding with the reindeer, a very slow and safe but once in a lifetime sleigh ride, and getting to see the northern lights as a backdrop to the stunning scenery. The authentic lodging, delicious food, warming fires and hot drinks, and wonderful stories and songs made this an unforgettable experience!

This was hands down one of the most magical experiences of my entire trip. From the moment we arrived, the setting felt straight out of a winter postcard — snow everywhere, the calm Arctic night, and reindeer all around you. Feeding the reindeer was such a highlight because there are so many of them, and you’re literally walking among them while they come right up to you. It’s one of those moments that feels unreal in the best way. The Sami dinner was cozy, comforting, and honestly the perfect way to warm up after being outside. On top of that, learning about Sami culture made the whole experience feel deeper and more meaningful — not just a “tour,” but something that helps you connect with the place and its traditions. And then… the Northern Lights showed up right when we stepped outside to feed the reindeer. Like… casually. As if they were part of the schedule. It felt like the universe just decided to give us a gift. No “meh” moments at all — this tour is a full 10/10 and I’d recommend it to anyone: couples, solo travelers, families, friends… everyone should experience this at least once.

The most amazing experience we've had while visiting Sápmi. As an Indigenous person from North America, it was an honor to be able to learn more about Sámi culture and resistence here in Sápmi. The reindeer were adorable, the food was delicious, and the stories and joiking were incredible. I recommend this to anyone visiting Romsa / Tromsø in Sápmi / Nothern Norway. Ollu giitu for sharing this experience with us (and apologies if I used any Sámi words incorrectly!)

Great experience overall — efficient, well organized, and a lot of fun. We loved feeding the reindeer, sampling the different foods, and learning more about Sami culture. The bus ride was smooth, though a bit clearer signage at the pickup point would have helped people know where to go. Otherwise everything went smoothly. Highly recommend!

Total tourist catch. If you really want to feed the renes, go during the day. Little structure for the price it charges. We made the night tour, departing from the terminal of Tromso in two full buses. Upon arrival enter a tent and warn the program. Then feed the renes, the only positive point of the walk. Then enter a large cabin where there are large tables, hot chocolate, coffee and where dinner will be served. The food looked smooth, ready. After hours of waiting for dinner, they still leave us around 1h in the arrival tent to hear stories without excitement or any enthusiasm, with a very high fire that you come out smoked, burning eye and with an unbearable smell impregnated all over your clothes, skin and hair. It was made in just 2h, yet very expensive for what it delivers.

The proximity to the reindeer was just fantastic. Even the food a must. Reindeer Stew. Be sure to put on warm clothes. We experienced a winter wonderland.
