Descend into the large complex of underground tunnels that make up the catacombs of Domitila. Hear the stories behind the earliest Christian rites and rituals and marvel at ancient artworks.

We will explore several parts of the catacombs learning about death in ancient Rome and see crypts with pagan and Christian decorative themes including the tomb of Diogenes, a grave digger who created the endless corridors of graves.

Peter did a great job explaining a lot of history before we entered the catacombs. He had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed listening to him. We had to duck out early and Peter accommodated us by watching the clock and ensuring that we could exit the catacombs on time while the rest of our group continued. This Underground experience was terrific!

Mike was a terrific guide focused on producing a great experience, and this was a really good add-on to all of the other usual Rome tours filling an open afternoon. Seeing and learning about the catacombs outside the city walls was a big enhancement to my vacation overall.

Our tour guide Heather was truly exceptional. This tour of the Catacombs of Domitilla was hands down the best of several tours we’ve taken during our stay in Rome. Her knowledge of the catacombs, and Roman history in general was impressive, as was her ability to weave an interesting, compelling narrative that kept our small group engaged and entertained for the entirety of the tour. Our only complaint was that the tour had to end! It’s well worth the price of admission and I would’ve been willing to pay more for another 30-60 minutes of exploring the catacombs with a guide if Heather’s caliber. Can’t recommend this tour enough, it should definitely not be missed!

Devan was an outstanding guide! He was super knowledgeable and shared the history with excitement. He brought his passion to the history and the people that surround the catacombs, Catholicism, and the Roman Empire. The visit to the catacombs was incredibly interesting and enlightening to say the least. If you can book with Devan then you will truly win!

Mike was a fabulous tour guide. Very knowledgeable. Gave a wonderful "presentation" before going into the catacombs. The historic backstory really brought the tour to life. He went above & beyond in this tour. He was funny, tastefully sarcastic & really just a blast to be around. Mike is your man for this tour, you won't be sorry!

It was an incredible experience to see a part of the catacombs. The work put into these underground tombs thousands of years ago is mind boggling. Mike was a wonderful host with a great sense of humor. Highly recommend!

Once you’ve done all the must see tours and attractions (the colosseum, Roman forum, Pantheon, Trevi fountain, etc,) you MUST put this one on your list! This is two hours well spent. We learned a great deal about Ancient Rome including how several traditions came to be. The catacomb tour was incredibly informative and Angela (our tour guide) is one of the most knowledgeable on the subject of ancient Roman history I’ve ever known. My wife just can’t stop saying how much she enjoyed this adventure (and neither can I!)
