Explore Riisitunturi National Park in winter, known for its snow-covered trees and wide open landscapes that create one of Lapland’s most iconic natural scenes.
Operated by The Original Aurora Hunters®, Arctic GM is a family-run company with roots in Lapland dating back to the 1600s, combining local knowledge with a focus on small-group experiences and guided hiking.
After pickup, you will travel to the national park, located away from busy tourist areas. The experience includes a guided walk through forest trails and scenic viewpoints, with time to enjoy the surroundings, take photos, and learn about the local nature and winter environment.
The pace is moderate, making it suitable for most fitness levels.
During the day, you will stop to enjoy a traditional Lapland barbecue in a natural setting.

Riisitunturi National Park
Begin your experience with pickup in Rovaniemi and transfer to Riisitunturi National Park, located approximately 2–2.5 hours from the city. On arrival, you will start a guided walk through snow-covered forest trails. The route passes through areas known for heavily snow-laden trees, often referred to locally as “tykky,” as well as open viewpoints overlooking the surrounding Arctic landscape. The walk is at a moderate and steady pace, with regular stops to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and rest. Your guide will share insights about the park, winter conditions, and local nature throughout the experience. Midway through the outing, you will stop at a designated fire site to enjoy a traditional Lapland barbecue with hot drinks. After completing the walk, return transfer to Rovaniemi. Total duration is approximately 7–8 hours.

5.00After a fantastic Aurora hunt with this company, we saw a Facebook post about this national park and we just had to go. On Thursday 20th March, the lovely Issac took us. We were the only guests which was great for us. Issac was knowledgeable and so kind. I joked if we were stuck anywhere or attacked by a bear, Issac is the man you want to be with! He took photos and brought his own personal drone with him. Amazing piece of kit. I hope to receive the footage one day when he gets time. The photos were beautiful. We had such good fun with him foung snow angels. He looked after us at lunch time, cooked and fed us, he carried a choice of 3 different drinks! We were lucky to spot a wild reindeer on the way back too. Thank you Arctic GM and Issac for a memorable trip to a beautiful place.

5.00We took the Arctic GM tour to Riistunturi National Park on March 17th - we can’t recommend this tour, or this company, enough. Our guide, Robin, picked us up at our accommodation on time, and was very attentive throughout the tour. The tour itself was magnificent - it was like nothing we had ever experienced - the snow on the trees was magical. The hike itself was not difficult, but the views were amazing. We had a nice barbecue lunch on the trail in a nice shelter, and then finished our hike with some delicious blueberry pie at the trailhead. We can’t recommend this tour enough!

5.00Our guide Nicolas was amazing and went above and beyond for us to have an unforgettable experience, with care and dedication. Riisitunturi is a wonderful and eerie place, I've never seen anything like it and I'm so glad we went there. This was the last tour of our trip and definitely the most unique.
Lapland mon amour! Great spaces great silences. You look a little like my Alps. I wish I knew about farms
