Fort Siloso
Siloso Point is separated from Labrador Park on mainland Singapore by less than half a kilometre of sea. This proximity has fuelled an urban legend about an undersea tunnel connecting British-constructed forts and artillery batteries at both locations. Despite numerous excavations and restorations, no tunnel has been found and none appear on maps or documents. The names of places and natural features on Blakang Mati reflect the local communities, economic and social history, as well as the island’s flora and fauna. Near where Fort Siloso stands, today was an area known as Sarang Rimau, Tiger’s den in Malay, used by the Orang Laut to reflect their knowledge of the area.
Siloso Beach
Siloso Beach, one of three beaches with swimming lagoons created by Sentosa Development Corporation, SDC during the 1970s and 1980s has a rich history. Its name comes from the Malay word for “rock”, initially a strategic defence point. It was transformed into a vibrant tourist hotspot in the 1970s. Today, Siloso Beach is renowned for its beach volleyball, water sports and bustling nightlife, where the energy never fades and the parties keep going.

Well worth the money. Food was excellent and the service fantastic. We had a great time celebrating my husband's 50th. On our cruise, not all the sails were up, as per the image, but it was fun to watch them working on the sails that did go up. Great experience

A very pleasant evening on the Royal Albatross. The 7-course dinner was well thought out, nicely presented, and surprisingly good for being served on board. Service was attentive, the live music added a nice touch, and the views of the coastline and skyline made the whole experience memorable without being overdone.

4 course cruise (not 5 course).. appreciate the flexibility to change our seats. However, the first main course (fish) is not very fresh. Life singing is good.

Lovely welcome to the super yacht for our NDP preview cruise. We opted for the early boarding which came with a nice selection of hors d’oeuvres served alongside a welcome cocktail in the main saloon which was nicely decorated. The staff are friendly and obliging. Nice start to our dinner sail!

It was our last Saturday night in Singapore after 2 years so Mrs Vicar decided to book something special. It’s an impressive ship with the top deck being open and with canvas tops above the dining areas. In Singapore rain can appear at any time with little notice so it’s necessary. There had been rain a few hours before sailing time, we’d find out about this later. We had the 7 course package of which the highlights were a delicious roasted tomato soup, a large piece of sea bass(mine felt slightly under done) which was very nice, a mixed starter of various types and vegetarian salmon dish which tasted just like salmon. During the salmon dish the boat moved from the dock which dislodged some rain water from the above canvas and plastic which soaked our table mid course and the one behind us. A few dabs with a towel and my seat cushion turned upside appeared to be the remedy with replacement dishes for the soaked food. The ship circles part of Sentosa island whilst the sky went from dusk to dark. As well as the 2 coastlines we experienced the air force practising for SG60 national day which unfortunately we won’t experience. Otherwise this seemed to be a good way of rounding off our Singapore experience.
