With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast.
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

5.00Amazing experience, highly recommend - either if you are at leisure in KL, or with very limited time as I was, this is an amazing way to sample the real KL through the markets and immense variety of foods of . With the extremely knowledgeable Chef Steve guiding us, always attentive to the needs and interests of our small party, KL will be from now on forever imprinted in mysmell and taste buds memory. 5.00Ian was a great tour guide and we had a really great time. He clearly has taken lots of feedback from previous tours and we felt that in the info given about the dishes & how many tastings left etc. It was also the cleanest food tour I’ve ever been on. The dishes we tried were varied and local and he taught us some history too which I always enjoy on a food tour. He got the group talking and had great energy. I’d recommend this tour

5.00Excellent communication before tour - Steven went above and beyond, helpful, informative, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and keen to encourage the group. Wide range of food types, drinks, fruit and snacks tried. Portion size was discussed at each stop accommodating each individual to their needs/wants. Would definitely recommend - have actually booked another tour in Penang for later in the week. Do this tour - great experience. Thank you.

5.00Our guide Sam was knowledgeable and helpful; he answered all of our questions and helped with pictures. The pace of the tour was brisk but very reasonable. The highlight was trying our hand at forming roti canai.

5.00Don’t think, just book this! By far the best walking food tour we’ve done, and we’ve done many in many different cities. The guide Sam was incredibly knowledgeable, and constantly shared facts and insights about the food and Malaysia in general. We both agreed we couldn’t have tried all the different food and drinks (truly 15+) in two weeks on our own if we tried! I’d recommend doing this tour as soon as you arrive in Malaysia, as it covers all the most famous options, which means you can then eat what you like from that point onwards!
