With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast.
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! This tour is one of the best I’ve done. Our tour guide Kiran was incredible. The tour walks through the old town of KL. It is an easy casual walk broken up by many stops. Each stop provides sumptuous meals. You get to try many local dishes that you probably would not try on your own.

Sam was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, both about the food and history/info on Kuala Lumpur. Learned about the various cultures, their foods, how they came to be here, etc. He also provided further recommendations for us to try on our following days here! The walking really wasn’t too bad, despite the length of time, and everything was delicious. It was also super fun being in a group and chatting with other visitors. Would absolutely recommend this tour.

I had a great time on this food tour! It was a treat to try so many different dishes, which our guide told us all about. The guide, Stephen, was very knowledgeable about the food and the cultural aspects behind it, and was very accommodating for personal food preferences. We went to a number of stalls and places that I would have never found by myself. Highly recommended way to explore KL's food scene!

Amazing tour, so much better than I expected and my expectations were already high. Stephen was the perfect guide, knowledgeable, funny, kind. There was SO MUCH FOOD. I rarely take tours but I really wanted to make the most of Malaysia as a foody destination and there is so much to try and so many stalls that it can be intimidating. This was a great way to know the ropes and keep enjoying the food on the days after!

In a small group, we explored the old town of Kuala Lumpur with our guide Ian. He took us to various local spots and stalls. From curries, grilled fish, satay, and more. Fruits and salads were all included and always very delicious. Refills were available. Ian explained everything necessary and entertained and cared for us very well. Overall, we were out for 4 hours, and it was the best food tour I have ever done. Clear recommendation.

Ian was a great tour guide! He was super informative about the food, ingredients, history of the food, and was able to answer any question that people threw at him. He was also super helpful making sure each stop went smoothly, that we were full and he helped cleaned our cutlery and portioned out dishes as needed. He gave us tastings of many different dishes/fruits that we probably would not have considered to try and we are thankful to now have new things to order. Would 100% recommend and rebook.

Ian our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Malaysian food and heritage. We experienced a wide variety of different foods from different types of vendors which were all very good. We particularly enjoyed learning how to make rotis. We had a fun evening with very nice people.
