With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast.
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

Exclusive to just 8 guests, you’ll be led away from the tourist crowds to one of the last remaining undeveloped districts, a place known for its community spirit and sizzling street eats. 5.00Tasted lots of local delicacies led by our guide, Steve, who owned his own restaurant. He explained about how the dishes were made and also had lots of local/historical knowledge along the way. Lots of nice and interesting flavours and this tour supports local businesses which is a plus - liked making the roti too. Also got to discover an area off the tourist track.

5.00We had a brilliant time on the tour with our guide Ian. A fantastic way to taste loads (and I mean loads!) Of delicious local cuisine, made by local people. Ian, our tour guide was a great host, very professional, knowledgeable and really made the experience memorable! Thank you to Ian and all the street vendors who served us their delicious food.

5.00An amazing experience with Steve. We got to try foods in places we otherwise wouldn’t have visited and they were delicious! Steve always asked if we wanted more so we had an unlimited food supply if you wished. There was 8 people in our group which felt like a good number. We loved it so much we went back to a couple of the restaurants the next day.
Food and KL history plentiful! Come hungry!

5.00We had a lovely afternoon/evening with our guide Stephen who showed us around the small local family owned restaurants. He really managed to adapt his tour to our wishes, especially as we had only a group of three people. It was definitely worth the money for someone who likes to try different local food with all the things he explained about it. We will definitely go on another Chef's tour in a different city!

5.00Great value for the price. We sampled a ton of different Malaysian dishes which we never would have known to order otherwise. Our guide, Stephen, also provided a fantastic cultural overview while discussing the preparation & tradition behind the different dishes. The food was delicious, and plenty of it. No one left hungry!
