With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast.
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

5.00Very worthwhile tour, easy to follow, well informed guide, yummy food. Walking tour around the food stalls behind Hilton Garden Inn South heading towards the Petronas towers. Very well organized from planning to puck up. They enquire about food allergies and special needs beforehand and actually know who you are and what to attend to. A lot of infos, every question met. Perfect outing. They even had spare ponchos in case of rain.

5.00The name of the tour does not justify the tour. It's not just a food tour... Shaun our tour guide was so informed about anything U ask him and made the tour absolutely impeccable. All the time giving us information,It's not only about food and culture but we learnt a lot about malaysia which was not expected. I would suggest it to anyone and very much worth the price !

5.00This is my third food tour in KL and by far the best. We had 15 different tastings (some more like a meal). If you like something, the guide always offered to get you more. The food was varied and we had some hands-on experiences like making roti. Nadia was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, very pleasant. You need to allow 4 hours for this tour.

5.00Excellent food tour with an incredibly passionate and authentic guide. Kiran clearly loves what she does and has a huge amount of knowledge. We tried so many foods we honestly lost count — some were delicious, others not quite to our taste, but all were great to experience. The tour also gave us a chance to connect and chat with other travellers, which was really enjoyable. At times the amount of information shared felt a little overwhelming and sometimes interrupted those natural conversations. Kiran has lots of fascinating insights, and the tour might feel even more relaxed if there were a bit more opportunity for guests to chat and take it all in between explanations.
