Set sail from scenic Mission Bay and encounter some of the ocean’s most awe-inspiring creatures on a 2–3 hour whale-watching adventure in San Diego. Time can vary based on the season and locations of sightings.

In just 10 minutes, you’ll leave the bay behind and be out in the open Pacific, scanning for whales, dolphins, and other fascinating marine life. Led by an expert guide and naturalist alongside a skilled captain, every moment is an opportunity for an extraordinary encounter.

South Mission Beach Park

South Mission Bay Park sits at the southern tip of the Mission Beach peninsula in San Diego, right where the ocean meets the bay channel. The Ocean Front Walk begins at the South Mission Bay and runs north/up the peninsula for biking, jogging, or strolling. Fire pits make this a nice spot for an evening bonfire by the beach.

Ocean Beach

After setting sail from Mission Bay, you'll head towards the open Pacific Ocean. In just 10 minutes, you'll pass through the jetties and enjoy a scenic view of Ocean Beach's famous Dog Beach and the iconic Ocean Beach Pier before venturing into the vast blue waters.

The crew does a fantastic job. We were able to see a large pod of dolphins and one Fin whale. Would definitely do again.

Staff was very friendly and polite. Boat was clean and service was great. Didn't see any whales but seen other types of fish. Will do this again.

We weren’t lucky enough to see any whales but there were dolphins and lots of seals etc. the really nice touch is since we didn’t see any whales on this trip they gave us a coupon that will never expire and is good for another trip.

With my wife and our 2 kids (8 & 10),we had a wonderful experience on this whale watching trip! The crew was amazing! Everyone was very friendly and made the tour very special from start to finish. We saw some whales & dolphins, we couldn't have expected a better trip! We can't wait to do it again! *** Don't forget to take a jacket, it gets cold when you're out at sea!

If you like the ocean. Then is relaxing,, but is hard to watch a whale 🐋🐳. And that is the point , you pay to see a whale dolphin 🐬 but the whale can't see it

Our family had an absolutely wonderful time on this whale‑watching cruise. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone had a great experience. We were lucky enough to see whales up close, and a special highlight was how they captured some truly fantastic moments during the trip. The photos were available (for cost) to download afterward via a link, which made it easy to relive and share the experience with no pressure to need to capture that perfect wildlife shot. Thanks Alison and team! An unforgettable outing and highly recommended for families!

What a great trip with an awesome host and crew! It was a perfect afternoon trip and we saw three whales and a hundred plus dolphin! It was such a fun trip with great sites and really knowledgeable crew. Captain Mike knew exactly where to go and our biologist guide Allison was the perfect guide telling us so much about what we were seeing. The boat was perfect with great accommodations and very roomy. Over 100 of us and not crowded at all! The two deck hands were friendly and so helpful with those that were not quite feeling so good. Oscar in the galley was friendly and helpful too. We’ve been to SD hundreds of times so I’m not one to do the touristy things any more but since we had a special guest we figured why not, it’ll be fun. Boy was I surprised on how fun this was! Wish I would’ve done it sooner! Next time we’re planning on going at sunset. I definitely recommend the trip, binoculars are a good deal, priority boarding upgrade, not so necessary. Definitely worth the money and time. Enjoy the trip!

We were fortunate as it turned out to be a great day for sighting fin whales. The crew were quite knowledgeable and found the right locations and hovered around for enough sightings.
