Living near a few great zoos I was wondering if the San Diego Zoo would be worth it and the answer was a resounding yes. The staff are the main reason why. They are incredibly helpful, passionate about conservation, and as one guide put it " here to make sure you have a fantastic day. " Hannah in particular was amazing she talked to us in the morning and then later remembered my son's name. In addition several staff members explained about specific animals at the zoo, their personalities, how special being there on carcass day etc. The tram tour was a great way to see animals. We also had the opportunity to see several babies since the San Diego zoo has many of them. The enclosures were designed to allow many access points of visibility, while still adding enrichment and appropriate habitats. Important tips: dress in layers for weather that feels 5-10 degrees more or less than the temperature the biomes and multiple levels mean some areas are very sunny and some are windy and chilly. Pick your lunch/ snack ahead of time using the menus in the app. There are many great options but they're spread throughout the park. Pack snacks and water. Be prepared to walk a ton.

My girl Delilah used to bring me leaves every time I visited her now there’s a plastic border up and now she can’t have fun. She is the southern ground hornbill that’s located right across the way from the giraffes.

Every time I visit my family in San Diego, they know they need to get tickets for the Zoo. It is such an amazing place, and they do such important work in the conservation of both plants and animals. I’m a primate junkie so I can spent hours watching the monkeys and apes. But all the exhibits are fantastic. Just be realistic that not all animals may be out front posing for the cameras. Depending on the season and temperature, some may hide away or hibernate. So enjoy your visit. There is sooo much to see and experience!

Grounds are beautiful, great variety of animals easy to see, amazingly helpful volunteers and staff! Bus ride was a great introduction and the AirTran was a fun way to get across the park.

Lovely zoo with clean habitats and lots of animals. Disappointed that the Polar region was closed but there was plenty of to see otherwise.

Great experience. Wonderful vegetation, animals, and other exhibits. Loved the pandas, bus, and skyway. Bring your own food - on site food is way too expensive.

I always come away with a wonderful experience. My only complaint is not with the Zoo. It is with the extremely rude and inconsiderate customers who do anything and everything for a selfie. Absolute detractors from my experience.
