Climb aboard a comfortable electric van in Sarlat and after a 1-hour trip punctuated by photo stops through the majestic landscapes of the Dordogne Valley, you will reach Rocamadour. Rocamadour is one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France, built in a vertiginous setting against a cliff face nestled in the heart of the Alzou canyon, a thousand-year-old historic UNESCO site.
During this guided tour you will learn about the legends at the origin of this sacred place. You will walk down the cross trail (lift on the way back), you will admire the miraculous chapel and its black virgin, the sarcophagus of St. Amadour dug into the rock of the cliff, and the legendary sword Durandal.
On the way back , we will make a stop to visit a unique place : either the Cougnaguet medieval watermill (april to october) or Autoire medieval village (available all year).

5.00We had a wonderful afternoon with David. He was so interesting and engaging. Rocamadour is a fascinating place to see and learn about. We also really enjoyed a side trip to see a mill that has been functioning since the middle ages! Such a great day!

5.00It was memorable to learn about Rocamadour's fascinating history and its important role related to Europe's pilgrim trails. The site itself and the complex way in which the shrine is constructed is unique! Very happy I got to see and learn about it with an excellent guide.

5.00This tour is a must. The seven chapels carved into the cliff side and the whole village are breathtaking . David our guide from EXPLOREO was amazing!! He was very knowledgeable and thorough throughout our tour. We stopped at a flour mill on our way to Rocamadour that was unique , peaceful , and just beautiful surroundings. David also stopped along the way for us to take pictures at two different locations with beautiful views. I highly recommend Rocamadour tour with David as your tour guide.
