Public Hospital Museum
"Idiots, lunatics, and those of insane mind" were to be housed in this institution, according to its founding documents. Although conditions were frequently not much better than those in jails, several doctors tried to make things better for their patients. After the Civil War, the situation worsened once again, and in the 1890s, the original structure burned down.

5.00Fabulous! It was a chilly night, perfect to feel like the spirits might be out. Price was good for not entering the houses. I am too scared to go in the house anyway! Loved the tour guide, Austin P. He was well-spoken and knowledgeable. His Timing was great. Not too long and drawn out and not rushed. The guide can make or break the tour and he was a gem! Perfect choice for a night in Williamsburg. Don’t skip it!!

5.00Vince was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, and we learned things we didn't hear on previous tours. He was also very patient with us as we had some elderly family members who weren't able to move very quickly. We highly recommend the Secrets of Colonial Williamsburg Hidden History Walking Tour!

5.00Our guide, Patrick, was the best of the best… He made the history of Williamsburg, and of the early days before and during the founding of our nation, come alive with vivid and relatable stories about the people and events which shaped our country. I could almost believe that he had been there at the time. He was entertaining and articulate. We couldn’t have asked for better.
