You’ll find your new furry friends here in a beautiful harbour on the slopes of an extinct volcano and overlooked by craggy volcanic hills. Shamarra Alpacas is just over an hour’s drive (73km) from Christchurch Central, and only a 20 minute trip from the historic seaside village of Akaroa, which is worth visiting for its culture and architecture alone. Our panoramic views of Akaroa Harbour and the rolling hills and peaks of the surrounding valleys are breathtaking and will make every one of your selfies with an alpaca post-worthy. 5.00Chinese guide is very careful! This tour includes parking spaces, so friends who are driving have absolutely no need to worry. Not only that, the Chinese guide will also help to take photos, not worry about not having a photo match with the lamb! Add cake and juice, without worrying about starving or thirsty. Cute and cute!

5.00An informative tour with absolutely wonderful interaction with the Alpacas. Guides are knowledgeable, helpful and so friendly. The alpacas themselves are so placid and beautiful.

5.00Beautiful spot, guide was so lovely and we learnt so much about the alpcas. We got to get up close with them and see all their different personalities. Great way to see the bays while cuddling some beautifully well looked after alpcas! 10/10 must do!!

5.00This was awesome. From the scary drive up the dirt road, to playing with the animals. It was really special, not to mention the views are spectacular. The staff was tremendous.

5.00This experience exceeded our expectations! Our guide provided a ton of interesting information before the animal encounter. We first interacted with the male alpacas. Some were more interested in eating than in people but others were very happy to be petted. Their fur feels like carpet and their eyes are enormous. We moved to the area with females and babies and interacted by feeding them. That certainly got their interest! The farm also has a store with really lovely alpaca wool items.

5.00A huge hit with our 19 month old. The staff was excellent at helping point out the gentlest animals for us to approach who wouldn’t be scared by our son’s predictably unpredictable toddler movements.

5.00Excellent opportunity to get close to Alpacas, it was raining when we arrived but they provided raincoats, good commentary from the staff who explained everything about the alpacas, great fun feeding the females, good views of the Peninsula
