DAY 1: CUSCO - KM104 - AGUAS CALIENTES

Our tour begins with the pick-up from the hotel at 4:00 pm to go in mobility to Ollantaytambo where we take the train and go to km 104 where we will start the walk, we will pass by the bridge that is on the Urubamba River or Willkamayuc which translated from Quechua means Sacred River. After 3 hours of walking we will arrive to Wiñaywayna, After knowing winaywayna we will walk for 2 hours through Andean trails, stone stairs and tambos (“resting places”) until we reach Inti Punku - Puerta del Sol which in the time of the Incas worked as an entrance control to the Citadel of Machu Picchu; From here you have an impressive panoramic view of Machu Picchu and the entire valley that surrounds it, then we will descend by approximately 30 minutes to the wonder of the world Machu Picchu and finally Aguas Calientes here we will spend the night in a hotel. Here we will also have a delicious à la carte dinner in a very cozy restaurant in this town. Hotel night in the towns of Aguas Calientes.

Upon waking up early, we will take the first mobility to Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour of 2 hours and 30 minutes through the site during which you will learn about the Incas and visit all the most important areas of the citadel. After your tour, you will have free time to explore the site yourself and if you have permits to climb the mountain Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu. In the afternoon, you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo from where you will continue by bus back to Cusco.

5.00Due to unforeseen circumstances I ended not being able to do the Inca Trail part of the tour but Ramareo ensured that I was met at the train station by a representative of the hotel and my needs taken care of During the hike he attempted to contact to ensure I was being looked after On arriving at Machu Picchu early next day we had a comprehensive tour using all his local knowledge.A great big thanks for your support and encouragement 💋

5.00We had the fortune of having Romario as our guide, a local, knowledgable guide who had an extreme amount of patience! The initial route was changed due to a landslide, the first 2km's of the new route is a steep incline, which i would not recommend unless you have some trekking experience. The lunch that was served on the hike, prepared by the locals, was some of the tastiest food we had in Peru. The 5 star rating has all to do with Romario's excellent demeanour on how to handle a group of travellers with different skill levels, thank you my Inca friend you are the best!

5.00An excellent excursion, very well organized and professional. The hike and the visit require quite a bit of management, with different tickets and reservations for trains, buses, entries, accommodations, etc., and everything must be booked well in advance during peak season. TrekXperience makes it very easy and takes care of everything for a reasonable price. Our guide, Romario, was kind, very well-informed, helpful, flexible with our preferences, and also very fun. Highly recommended for those who want to do the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or other excursions!
