Our Skye Explorer Tour is ideal for those who want to get out and really explore the magnificent landscapes of this wonderful island. You will experience four unique hikes: the Cuillin Mountains; the Fairy Glen; the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing. In addition, you will have a lunch stop in the picturesque village of Portree and a photo stop at legendary Eilean Donan Castle.
Our experienced local tour guide, who is also a qualified hiking guide, will keep you entertained and be available for advice throughout the day.

Loch Ness
After departing from Inverness we will drive along the shores of Loch Ness (keep an eye out for the famous beastie!). As the road winds between majestic hills, past dark lochans and through windswept glens your guide will fill you in on the tragic history of this area, and how this history led to the desolate landscapes of the Scottish Highlands that you see before you today. After passing the 5 Sisters of Kintail we will soon see Loch Duich which welcomes us, after 2 hours driving, to Scotland’s wonderful west coast.
Eilean Donan Castle
Our first stop is at one of the world's most photographed castles and we are here (you guessed it!) to snap a photo, from an iconic viewpoint. We will spend around 10 minutes admiring the castle in its coastal location and, from here, we are just a few minutes' drive to the Skye Bridge. Please note that there is not enough time to go into the castle.

5.00Plan for the weather! Don't blame the guide for bad weather. Murdock was awesome and told amazing stories. His history lessons were enjoyable.

5.00What a treat this tour company is! We booked the “Skye explorer hiking day tour” and Murdoch was our guide extraordinaire. His passion for the region and story telling were amazing and inspiring. The buses are comfortable, and I appreciate that they take smaller, more intimate groups out. They make it easy to get lunch in Portree- shoutout to Lisa at Skye baking for her amazing food! She also has an amazing gallery with her original works, which were beautiful. I would 100% recommend this company, it was our favorite day of our trip.

5.00Murdoch was an excellent tour guide. Not only were the hikes breathtaking and tons of fun, but his storytelling is out of this world. The drive up to skye from inverness was a long trek but his outstanding stories made the trip go by very quickly.

5.00Murdoch is Mr Fabulous! And Lisa’s bakes (The Isle of Skye Baking Company) are delicious! Do book lunch with Lisa! Great storytelling, hilarious commentary and secret places to hike in Skye. Best way to describe this tour is to actually do it. We had such an enjoyable tour that words do not do any justice.

5.00Absolutely breathtaking views in Skye! Fairy Glen, Old Man of Store and the Quiraing Murdoch was a wonderful guide and a great storyteller too. A perfect day! The lunch was also delicious thanks to Lisa at skyebakery! Highly recommend this trip.
