Pristina
Our professional tour leader will come and pick you up at your hotel in Pristina at 9:00 am.
Gracanica Monastery
The first destination of today is the Gracanica monastery. This monastery is seen as one of the most attractive ones in Kosovo. Inside of the church, you have to cover your knees and shoulders and women must wear a head scarf. You first enter the large chapel that has many medieval paintings. The smaller chapel is even more impressive with murals in bright colours. It is not allowed to take pictures inside, luckily the outside is just as picture-worthy.
Ulpiana
After the monastery, our tour will continue to Ulpiana. You would probably not expect this in Kosovo, but the country has its own Roman Empire ruins. The ancient city of Ulpiana was an important centre of activity politically, economically and culturally. Many objects have been found on the site as well, such as sculptures of a woman’s head, a man’s head and a theatrical mask. You can still see the divisions between the different rooms and even a few stones are engraved with scriptures dating back to the Roman era.
Kalaja Fortress
Our final destination is Prizren. The city is considered to be the cultural capital of Kosovo, mixing its rich history, incredible nature, religious tolerance and gastronomic delights. You will get some free time around 12:30 on every day of the tour to enjoy a delicious lunch and wander around by yourself till 14:00. Prizren has played an important role in the region as an Illyrian settlement and as a crossroad for the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, contributing to the unique architecture of the city.
Prizren
The river flows through the heart of the old town and under the many bridges that crisscross the city. The best way to explore the town is by wandering through the streets passing by elegant medieval houses that fight for your attention.

Prevalla
After breakfast, we will move towards Prevalla National Park. The first thing we will see are the Sharr mountains that are getting more and more impressive as we get closer. The Lepenci River also begins in this mountainous terrain. The National Park is a popular ski location but also a beautiful place for a hike through amazing landscapes. This is what we will do, we will go for a hike once we arrive at the Prevalla village. After a day surrounded by the stunning Kosovar nature, we will return back to Prizren.

Rahovec
Today we will drive towards the west of Kosovo. Our first destination is Rahovec Valley, known as the capital city of viticulture in Kosovo. There is evidence that in this region grapes have been cultivated since Illyrian times, 2000 years ago. Vineyards are positioned in the soft hillocks of Rahovec in altitude from 350 -520 meters of the sea level making Rahovec an ideal spot to produce high quality fine wines. A wine festival takes place in Rahovec annually every September.
Mirusha Waterfalls
Later we will drive towards Gjakove, the city has the oldest and largest bazaar of Kosovo. Even though, it got destroyed during the first Balkan wars, the second world war and the Kosovo war, the bazaar got rebuilt again to its old state and is a nice place to enjoy a meal or to take a look at the stores that sell traditional handmade crafts from local artisans and producers. Have some free time to explore Gjakove on your own.

Visoki Decani Monastery
Our destination for today is the Monastery of Decan. This one stands out for its white colour, but even more remarkable is the fact that Orthodox monks still inhabit the monastery and make fresh organic food there, such as cheeses. The monastery became part of UNESCO in 2004 because of its frescoes, which portray the lives of people during the 14th century as well as the Palaeologan renaissance that changed the way of Byzantine painting.
Later during the day, we will drive toward Accursed Mountain National Park and visit Gryka e Decanit. The road trip towards the National Park will enchant you, passing through spectacular mountain scenery, exciting ascents and hiking routes. We will have some free time to enjoy the wild beauty of Kosovo.

Peje
Our journey continues towards Peja. The city has one cultural UNESCO heritage site, the Patriarchate of Peja, located near the entrance of the Rugova Valley. This medieval Orthodox Monastery was built in the 13th century, having four churches in a beautiful red colour. After passing by the monastery, we will wander through the characteristic Old Bazaar of the city.
Rugova Mountains
From Peja, we will go to Rugova Valley National Park. No matter what season it is, Rugova Valley looks beautiful during all of them. Waterfalls, rocks, small villages, lakes, caves and numerous mountains with high peaks is what makes this national park a must-see destination in Kosovo. Have some free time to explore the valley and drive through the Accursed Mountains.

Today we will drive towards White Drin River Waterfall, a stunning natural area known for its deep canyons, lush landscapes, and pristine beauty. The waterfall, together with the cave and the source of the White Drin, has been legally protected as a natural monument. The waterfall is located in Zhljeb Mountain in Radavc village and is considered as one of Kosovo's most spectacular waterfalls. We will have some free time to explore the era before driving to our next destination.
Prekaz
Later we will reach the village of Prekaz, where we visit the memorial of the Jashari family including a memorial ground, a museum and the house of the Adem Jashari’s family. You can still see the bullet holes in the original house. In 1998, the Serbian police force launched an attack that caused the lives of Adem Jashari and 50 family members. The deaths of the Jashari family sparked protests all around Kosovo. Nowadays, Adem Jashari is seen as the national hero and you will find his name and image throughout the country. Here we will also pass the Skanderberg square with the statue of Skanderberg himself, the national Albanian hero. Earlier this month, I did the 7 day tour of Kosovo with Choose Balkans and I honestly could not have been more pleased. Let me begin with when I first contacted Choose Balkans. Beginning in March when I first reached out about the tour until June 11 when I returned to the United States, my main point of contact, Sirma, was super responsive. Sirma (1) promptly answered any and all questions that I had; (2) clearly communicated to me who my tour guide would be and where/when they would meet me; (3) periodically checked-in with me during the trip to make sure everything was going smoothly; and (4) followed up with me after the trip to make sure it met my expectations. I honestly cannot say enough kind things about Sirma and how simple and easy she made the entire process and how her responsiveness prevented any feelings of concern from ever surfacing. With respect to the tour itself, my tour guide Arber was absolutely fantastic. As a local, he was able to answer all my questions about the various locations we visited, the people, the culture and the country. His passion for Kosovo was readily apparent in all our interactions. I would specifically recommend him as a guide to my friends and family because I have no doubt they would have the same top notch experience that I did with him. All of the accommodations that were selected for me were perfect. Comfortable rooms, nice bathrooms, good breakfasts, and responsive staff at the front desk. The sites that we visited as part of the 7 day tour pretty much ticked every box I think I could ask for. We had the opportunity to see beautiful churches/monasteries and mosques. There were many opportunities to see and experience the gorgeous outdoors. I had many chances to glimpse Kosovo's past (both distant and more recent) through the museums and other cultural attractions we visited. Overall it was an immersive experience that left me with a better understanding of the country, its people, and its history. As an Albanian American I had certain expectations going into this trip as to what I would see, taste, hear, and experience. I left feeling prouder than I could ever imagine of my cultural heritage and that is because of the tour that Sirma put together for me and that Arber took me on. To Choose Balkans, Sirma, and Arber, from the bottom of my heart, faleminderit. I look forward to coming back to the Western Balkans, and using you again.

I just finished this tour and it was fantastic. My guide Devis was exceptional, we did some climbing in one part of the tour and I could not have done it without his help. The country is very safe and the people very welcoming. The tour is a very good balance between visiting great scenery, historical cities,Churches and Mosques, learning about the history of Kosovo and the Balkans. Accommodations and food were very good. The roads were excellent and we had great weather in September. I highly recommended it.
