Grab your hiking boots and get ready, because you’re going to hike and climb the Sólheimajökull glacier in Southern Iceland! This is a comprehensive glacier tour, where you’ll learn about these massive natural phenomena from your guide and be provided with all the necessary equipment to get some exercise in full comfort and safety. You will also learn the basics of ice climbing and climb the vertical crevasse walls of Sólheimajökull glacier.
Each guide has a maximum of 6 participants to ensure the safety of the group.

The tour begins when you meet your guide in the Sólheimajökull parking lot and get all necessary equipment for the hike: crampons, ice axes, harnesses, helmets and climbing boots. Then you will hike for about 15 minutes to the ice itself to get the blood flowing and warm up for the climb.

5.00This was so much fun!! Highly recommend doing this before the glacier melts and you can’t anymore. Although me and my friends had never gone ice pik climbing or glacier hiking, we felt super safe since our guide was very experienced and made sure we were harnessed, had crampons, etc. Thankfully we all had plenty of hiking & skiing experience, which was good because this activity was quite the hike and definitely required some stamina and muscles. There were also folks in our group who had done this before, and they also enjoyed it, so I think this is good both for beginners and those with experience.
best activity of our trip!

5.00Our group leaders from Troll were awesome! - Lily and Gustavo were well trained for us. our group had 11 people + the 2 guides The walk to the climb site was about 1 mile. be sure to be prepared for bad weather and not appropriate for young kids! skill required was challenging even for athletic people.

5.00We had so much fun on our glacier hike and climb! Maria was an amazing guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the glacier and taught us a lot. The climb was super fun too, challenging but manageable! There was very little time standing around or waiting for others. Highly recommend!

5.00This was an incredible experience and the highlight of our trip to Iceland. We were 4 adults and all really enjoyed our time on the glacier and ice climbing. I wish we would have had more time to do another climb!

5.00Edgar and Louis were fantastic! We have some experience climbing and they took us to a spot we were still able to have an amazing time climbing! Edgar made the glacier hike fun and we got awesome photos for us. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

5.00We had an awesome time hiking and ice climbing (ages 52, 21, 20). Louis was a terrific guide, very knowledgeable and encouraging. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

5.00We had an amazing four hours on the Solheimajukull Glacier with our amazing tour guide Joao, who was competence and kindness and humour personified. We got to explore, climb down and up a crevasse, and generally appreciate the awesomeness of Mother Nature. It was very windy and cold but the sun was shining and Joao made everything seem easy and fun. He assured us when we needed it and hugged us (okay, me) when we needed it. He made the four hours go by quickly (no mean feat!) and left us with unforgettable memories!
