Battery Park
Your tour starts in Battery Park, located at the southern tip of Manhattan in New York City. It is a historic 25-acre public park with stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Established in the 17th century, it was originally a defensive artillery battery. Today, it's a vibrant space with gardens, monuments, and ferry terminals where your ferry will depart for your tour. Popular landmarks include Castle Clinton, an old fort turned museum, and the Seaglass Carousel. It's a gateway to the harbor and a serene escape in the bustling city.
Liberty Island
Your first stop of the day after your ferry ride is on Liberty Island, a small island in New York Harbor, home to the iconic Statue of Liberty. It covers about 14 acres and is part of the National Park Service. Originally called Bedloe's Island, it was renamed in 1956 to honor the statue. The island offers close-up views of the statue, symbolizing freedom and democracy. The island also features a museum detailing the statue's history and significance.

I did the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Tour on October 2nd. When I arrived and was waiting for the tour to start, nobody else was there - then Robert turned up and, much to my surprise, told me I was the only one booked for that particular tour. It ended up being a private tour, which was absolutely fantastic! Robert was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. He answered all my questions in great detail and made the tour come alive with fascinating stories. He also had an iPad with him, showing historic photos and images of the people and places we were talking about. It was amazing to compare those old photos with what I was seeing in real life. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated how kind and thoughtful Robert was. He offered to take photos of me wherever and whenever I wanted, which made the experience even more special. I would highly recommend this tour, and if you get Robert as your guide, you’re in for a real treat!
