St Martin has the remains of three forts of which two can be visited. Each fort offers a great view of one of the two capitals our small island is rich and forms a lovely background for the history of St Martin.
Fort St. Louis offers a great view of the capital of the French side, Marigot (accessible via a concrete stair).
Fort Amsterdam offers a great view of the capital of the Dutch side, Philipsburg (accessible via a short, sloping, sand path).

5.00Yum! And oh wow! This was so much fun. Cheese tasting and wine pairings, and old forts! What a great day! The weather was perfect. My guide was a history teacher that didn’t like cheese, but it was so much fun. We got a lot in and had homemade banana bread.! Ever since I first visited Saint Martin, I wanted to visit the forts on the island and get some local history, this was perfect!

5.00The Seagrape St. Martin History Tour was excellent. Our Guide was John, who is extremely knowledgeable of the Island. We toured and heard history of both the Dutch and the French side of the St Marin Island. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00The tour was great with two historical site visits at local fortifications from the 17th and 18th centuries plus 2 excellent wine and cheese tasting stops - one on the Dutch side, the other on the French side. We were super fortunate in that 2 other couples around our age were on the tour and by the end of the day we'd all become great friends. John, our driver, was friendly and knowledgeable and this turned out to be the best day of our trip.
