Walls of Ston
Ston, once a key part of the Dubrovnik Republic, is famous for its 5.5 km-long defensive walls, often called the "European Wall of China". Built in the 14th century, these walls protected one of Europe’s oldest active saltworks, still producing salt using traditional methods. The town is also renowned for its world-class oysters from Mali Ston Bay and local Pelješac wines, making it a perfect destination for history and food lovers alike. With its unique blend of heritage, flavor, and scenery, Ston is a must-visit in southern Dalmatia.

Our guide, Tom, was extremely professional and informative, making the tour both educational and enjoyable. The journey began with a pick-up from our hotel, and the first highlight was a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the Elaphiti Islands. A walk along the Ston Walls, the longest in Europe, provided breathtaking panoramic views, while the visit to the centuries-old saltworks gave us insight into traditional salt production. The highlight of the tour was visiting Mr. Dubo's oyster farm in the fishing village of Hodilje. Tasting fresh oysters straight from the sea while enjoying a boat ride was an unforgettable experience. We also visited the Miloš winery, where we savored authentic, high-quality local wines. The tour concluded in Mali Ston, where we enjoyed local specialties at the Bota Šare restaurant, which impressed us with its outstanding food and service. Tom's expert guidance, kindness, and extensive knowledge of the region's history and culture made this tour a true gem. Highly recommended for anyone eager to explore the richness of the Dubrovnik area in an authentic and relaxing way.
