See thousands of pink flamingos, pelicans, and other birdlife in the Ramsar Walvis Bay Wetland. Along the route, we pass Africa’s largest evaporation pond salt mine, with its striking pink waters. please note all Cruise Liner passengers, your tour pick up time starts an hour after you have docked. The tour will depart latest an hour and a half after the pick up time. Late comers are considered a no show
Please note due to the scarcity of German guides we cannot guarantee a German speaking guide, in peak season or when a cruise liner is in the Harbour and 2000guests disembark.
This experience is seldom cancelled due to bad weather, it does not rain here but we have strong desert winds sometime. If it is cancelled due to bad weather, it might be rescheduled to a new time, or another date, or a full refund.
This experience requires a Minimum number of 2 participants, if this is cancelled because minimum is not met then you will be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
This tour can be upgraded to include Champagne, oysters and Sushi, please advise us of your special occasion or if you want a high end tour.
This tour can be chosen as a Private Tour, minimum 1 person maximum 6 pervehicle please select under Private Tour.

Flamingo lagoon
Our Tour takes us through the Ramsar convention Walvisbay lagune wetlands where up to 250 000 and 54 species of birds can be seen from time: Pelicans, Flamingos, Plovers, Sandpipers and other endemic Birds can be seen. We drop our tyre air pressure and discuss the many birds
Our journey begins in Walvis Bay, passing the lagoon wetlands where thousands of pink flamingos gather in the afternoon light. We continue past the impressive salt pans before heading south along the beach to Sandwich Harbour, where towering dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean. As the sun begins to set, the landscape transforms into golden hues. Watch waves carve into the dunes at high tide, sometimes making access a true adventure. Enjoy an exhilarating dune drive over rolling sands to a breathtaking viewpoint, perfectly timed for sunset. Take in endless views of desert meeting sea, with the sky painted in warm colours and a peaceful, untouched atmosphere. Our knowledgeable guides share insights into the unique desert ecosystem and its wildlife. We end the experience with a relaxing sundowner stop, making this a truly unforgettable Namibian highlight.
