Nationally known for its mole, tacos, sandwiches, candies, and fried masa snacks, the city of Puebla is a food lover’s paradise.
On this tour, you’ll feast on tacos árabes with smoky chipotle salsa, which were invented not too far from the Zócalo. You’ll try a crunchy pelona, a sandwich of shredded beef, Mexican cream and salsa served on fried bread. You’ll try a tasting of artisan candies as well as visit the oldest market in Puebla, La Acocota, where you’ll learn about typical Mexican ingredients and taste native fruits and indulge in a taste of mole poblano, the spicy, chocolate-tinged sauce that Puebla is famous for. You’ll also try the cemita, Puebla’s most famous sandwich, filled with pounded-thin, breaded steak, stringy quesillo, sweet chipotles, and bitter pápalo herb, all on a lightly crunchy roll. And finally, we'll end with a taste of an artisan liqueur. You’ll finish the tour knowing why Puebla’s food scene is unlike any other!

Aleyn was an excellent tour guide, not only taking me to some of the best bites in Puebla, but giving me an informative history lesson on the cuisine and the city. I'd highly recommend taking her tour, which will give you great culinary introduction to Puebla.

This food tour was the absolute perfect way to kick off our stay in Puebla. Our guide, Aleyn, was not only knowledgeable and friendly, but she truly curated an unforgettable experience that went far beyond just sampling food. Each stop on the tour offered something unique and delicious, from time-honored local specialties to hidden gems we never would have found on our own. But what really set this tour apart was the way Aleyn wove in stories about Puebla’s history, culture, and neighborhoods—giving us a deeper appreciation of the city and its vibrant culinary traditions. We explored different parts of the city, learned about the origins of the dishes we were tasting, and even got personal recommendations for other restaurants and experiences to check out during the rest of our visit. If you're coming to Puebla and want a fun, flavorful, and meaningful way to connect with the city, this is the tour to take. We loved every minute.

Aleyn was our tour guide and she was exceptional. We met at the tourist office just across from the Zocalo at 1 PM. We went on a walking tour of the city around the Zocalo and stopped at about five or six different places to eat. All of them were very good. Most were very small stands and out-of-the-way places that we probably never would have gone to on our own. there are a lot of interesting stories about the places we ate and also about the city of Puebla. One we especially enjoyed was El Sultan. There was also a candy shop on the dolce’s Street and a wonderful bakery with fresh cooked goods. This was a great orientation to the city and just a good time. I would highly recommend such a tour on your arrival to Puebla.

Every stop came with real gastronomic and historical surprises. So many interesting experiences and insights right under our noses. Mostly we had been in the vicinity of these places before but it was if we had seen and understood nothing! So fascinating, so TASTY, distinctive, and so well conveyed by the super bright and personable Maria. We will probably go back and find all or most of the spots for MORE!

I was lucky enough to have a private tour since I was the only person that signed up. Everything was amazing, was left in a food coma so come hungry!

A very pleasant and very interesting activity. Aleyn is an excellent guide, her English is impeccable and especially almost without accent. The food is very good but it is street food, while Puebla has much more to offer. The only problem with this tour is the price. Far too expensive for what it's worth.

I knew we wanted to do a food tour while in Puebla, and this was the easiest one to book directly. When I was worried that we weren’t at the right meeting spot, I texted the office and they got back to me right away, but by then our guide Aleyn had already found us for what wound up being a private tour. We visited 5 unassuming places, 3 with bigger bites. One stop was sweets which wasn’t my favorite, but we got to take some home to enjoy with our coffee the next morning. And the last stop was for a nice digestif. The other 3 included large portions; 2 included multiple dishes. Two were “street food” in terms of standing and eating, and at one, we were able to sit down and use a restroom. I loved that we got to try items we don’t get here at home in San Diego very often (or at all) and from places we wouldn’t have been brave enough to try on our own. I’ve been on many food tours (this was #70) and this one was the right balance of culture and history, walking, and delicious food. I also appreciated the follow-up email with a list of all of the places we went on the tour.

The rating is very well deserved. We Really enjoyed learning about the food customs and the concepts of cooking at home.

I gave 5 stars because Alyen was a wonderful tour guide. She’s a poblana through and through and knows the history and takes pride in the beautiful culture of Puebla! I would for sure recommend this trip and request Alyen! I would have docked some stars because the meeting point was not well organized, there where numerous tours going on and I think that should be more sharpened up. And the food was great, however, it was street food and that should be mentioned in the tour.
