When it comes to Colorado whitewater, hardly anyone knows about the San Miguel River. Which is kind of a surprise! Given how much fun it is, on top of being in proximity to bougie and beloved Telluride.
The rafting section is gorgeously scenic, exciting for all experience levels, and pretty much a must if you want to spend the morning like a local. Its red sandstone canyon juxtaposed by flourishing pine forests make for a picturesque setting to recreate on this Rocky Mountain river.
Anyone who loves the outdoors will have an absolute hoot on this tour, whether it’s your first or hundredth time rafting. Just ask our guides, most— if not all!— will agree that the San Miguel is their favorite river to run.

5.00The rafting was amazing and the team was full of expert guides. Our guide, Julian, could not have been any better. Loved meeting him, hearing his story and the way he taught us and led our raft was awesome. Can't recommend them enough and will be booking another trip with them soon!

5.00We did this last year for the first time and loved it! This time we booked the morning as we wanted faster water. We received a text last night saying the water was down and did we want to go? ( 4 of us). We talked it over and finally decided to continue. We had such a great time!! Corbin and Julian were amazing raft guides and so much fun as well! They were very safe, respectful and we are so happy we went!!!! I highly recommend Mild to Wild Rafting! You will not regret it and love it!

5.00It was so much fun and it perfect for our first time rafting trip! Our guide Lauren was amazing! She encouraged us and directed us through areas with big rocks with out get bumped out of boat. Ready to do another trip!!

5.00Had a blast with Jason as our motivated and helpful guide! Lots of cool spray on a warm day, beautiful scenery along Sawpit and Placerville, and fun surprises with dogs and kayakers joining at points in time. Two 16 year olds engaged in outdoor activity was a bonus. Got a good arm workout and rowing lesson. Entire crew was fun and friendly and truly worked hard to make it a great experience. Friendly water gun spray off a neighbors deck was funny touch as well. Would def go again!

5.00Corbin was a great guide! My family of 3 (mom and two 12 year old daughters) had never been white water rafting before. We couldn't have wished for a better guide. We all felt educated about what to expect (Lauren also helped with that), well managed with his great instruction while on the river, and pretty safe. It was a delightful experience and we would choose this company and Corbin again.
SO disappointing!!! Not recommended!

2.00As someone who has participated in several whitewater rafting trips before, I found this one to be the least exciting, and most underwhelming—despite being the most expensive. In addition, they did not have a photographer to take pictures while you were rafting like other companies do. There were also no changing areas, showers, bathrooms, etc. before or after your rafting trip. The “rapids” were extremely mild, and at times the trip felt more like a casual canoe trip than a whitewater adventure. Our guide even mentioned that they have other trips that are more mild, but I can’t imagine a more mild trip since this was significantly more tame than anticipated. We barely got wet beyond our feet, and the portion of the trip described as the “climax”, was only mildly engaging at best. While I appreciate the staff’s professionalism and the scenic environment, I would not recommend this trip to others unless they are specifically seeking a very gentle (boring) experience.

5.00We went white water rafting in early June 2025 with our two kids (ages 10 and 12), and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The scenery near Telluride was absolutely stunning, and our guide, Noah, made us feel completely safe and well-prepared—even for situations like falling out of the raft (which thankfully no one did!). The rapids reached up to Class 3, and we rented wetsuits and booties, which kept us comfortable throughout. All the guides were welcoming, fun, and knowledgeable. It was a perfect mix of excitement, natural beauty, and family bonding. Highly recommend!
