Prepare yourself for a journey to the long lost zone of, “Little Amazon,” a hidden Banyan Tree forest near Takuapa. Canoeing under the canopy of the giant Banyan tree forest is peaceful and serene. Make your way to a Nipa Palm forest where you will hear the songs of local birds along the Klong Sung Nae River. Travel to Takuapa Old Town by a local Thai taxi “Songteaw” and see the traditional life and culture of this small and historical town which has remained nearly unchanged for more than a hundred years. See the period style buildings, small coffee shops, and of course, the most famous part of Takuapa, the old tin mines and factories that were worked until their close in the 1920’s.
If you want to combine nature, history and sightseeing together, this tour from Khaolak is recommended !

Comfortable walking shoes or sandals recommended. Not wheelchair accessible
Proper attire to enter a temple (No dresses above the knee. No short pants or three quarter pants. Modest shirts. No see through garments. No sports-wear. No footwear inside temple.).
We take action to minimize the impact on plastic and pollution. No Plastic Straws are allowed. At more and more places we have the ability to refill the water bottles. No Styrofoam is used for the Lunch, etc.

5.00We booked this tour with Eco Khaolak Adventure and it was an excellent experience, visiting temples, a fresh market and Takuapa old town. We also really enjoyed the canoe ride in the ‘Little Amazon’. Despite torrential rain, it was brilliant to see local wildlife and enjoy the river. Our guide Non really made the day special and provided a wealth of information. It felt like we got to see a glimpse of authentic Thai life away from the tourist areas and as always everyone we met was friendly and welcoming.

5.00The trip was very interesting. The guide tried to show even more than was in the program, to tell as much as possible about Thailand and its people. Swimming in an inflatable boat in the small Amazon was also very interesting. A true natural paradise. We also had a very interesting visit to the market, the temple and the old town of Takuapa. In summary - the excursion is worth the price paid.

5.00On the lost amazon tour we began the day canoeing and spent a beautiful hour being guided through stunning scenery and searching for wildlife. Please do not go on this tour and expect there to be a plethora of animals- it is not a zoo. It is a natural habitat and if you are fortunate, quiet and respectful you may be lucky but we found that the scenery itself was beautiful enough for us. From here we journeyed out to see some of the old Tin mining areas and managed to spot some Water Buffalo crossing the river. We visited a traditional fresh market where Non told us that the local businesses come to get their fresh products for the day ahead. We then had some traditional Thai food at a stunning hilltop restaurant followed by visiting a Chinese and a Buddhist Temple and taking part in some of the interesting routines and rituals. We visited another market where we saw some traditional street food stalls and explored some of the architecture inspired by Europe. Before the end of the day, we also visited a local waterfall. Non was incredible and was so friendly and informative, educating us on real Thai culture away from the hustle and bustle of tourism. He introduced us to some of his favourite snacks out of his own money and shared stories about his life throughout the day. As there were only 4 of us in the tour, he asked if we had any other plans and whether we would like to take the day slowly. All of us agreed that we were in no rush and so Non enabled us to have a lovely chilled and extended day with extra time at the waterfall, tin mines and markets. Honestly can't recommend this day enough- particularly if Non is leading!

5.00We did this little Amazon trip just buy turning up on the bike,we had a small boat with a engine,thai call it speed boat or you can take a canoe the speed boat is 700 and the canoe is 500 well worth the money I would say for 1 hours ride we started off down the river many flora and fauna to be seen and then speed boat down the bigger river which the smaller river connect to,it was great fun and then back up the small river,if you are in the area it is well worth doing just to see the strange formations of the banyan trees
