Museum and Crypt of Capuchins Friars

Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide. Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. Had a great time. Time management was great, hit three locations in approximately three hours. Not easy in Rome traffic, Maria was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Our tour guide Maria was fantastic. Fun, informative and well organised. She not only gave us the fascinating history of the crypts but also interesting knowledge about the city and its key monuments as we drove around in the bus. This is truly such a unique experience that I would highly recommend to anyone if you enjoy the likes of the more popular attractions like the colosseum or Roman forum.

Enjoyed the catacombs and the Capuchins immensely. Chock full of interesting information. Made me realize cremation is the way to go. Ally our guide was very informative.

Wonderful experience and it was amazing to see things we wouldn’t normally be able to see. The Capuchin part though was just okay. You walk there and then just listen to a self guided audio tour. The rides between places was nice though. Cat was an exceptionally wonderful tour guide.

Very remarkable experience. Our guide Emiliano was exceptional. He was a font of knowledge coupled with a comedian. We laughed and learned for the entire experience. The crypt was eerie, but interesting. Truly unique. The catacombs blew our mind, no bones about it :-). Highly recommend. Five stars. Our only complaint was with City Tours who was not flexible with rescheduling this tour when our other tour today was cancelled. They insisted on a 30 euro per person fee. I was not pleased with their inflexible nature. But our experience made up for it.
