5.00Mitch drove us to the Scarlet Ibis Caroni bird tour and we hit it off! From the moment we met him, he went above and beyond to create an experience that felt personal, local, and completely unique. We were lucky enough to book a spontaneous food tour with Mitch, and it turned into one of the absolute highlights of our time in Trinidad. Mitch took us to real, no-frills, authentic spots where we tasted incredible Trinidadian food and rum—places we never would have found on our own. Along the way, we even ended up meeting a local celebrity, which was such a fun surprise and made the day feel even more special. Watching the wildlife settle in for the evening surrounded by that peaceful landscape was unforgettable. We saw scarlet ibis, flamingos, tricolored herons, little blue herons, tip tails, snowy egrets, crabs, snakes, caiman crocodiles… the list is endless. If you’re looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, warm, flexible, and genuinely passionate about sharing the best of Trinidad, Mitch is your guy. This wasn’t just a tour—it was an 2 day experience we’ll be talking about for a long time. Highly, highly recommended!

5.00Seeing thousands of scarlet ibises at one time defies expectations. They don’t even look real, they are so beautiful! We were lucky enough to be paired with Mitch as our driver and he knew everything and everyone and was so nice and knowledgeable. After he took us for street food we knew we needed more Mitch time so we convinced him to take us on a city tour the following day!

5.00My friend and I enjoyed a beautiful boat ride at Nanan’s Caroni Swamp Bird Sanctuary. Our captain provided an adequate safety briefing to a group of about 12 in total in a large wooden boat. Our guide captain patiently explained info about birds, bugs, termites, snakes and crabs. We saw herons and more. The best part was the flamingo- heron- scarlet ibis show”happy hour” when they fly overhead to head to their nighttime rest trees. We saw group after group fly over the flamingo haven. The gem was the scarlet ibis found here and maybe in New Orleans USA This pre-sunset ritual is a nightly experience. Be sure to bring sunscreen, bug repellent, hat, phone or camera, rain gear just in case. The tour includes a stop at a small food truck stop for Ryan’s Doubles, a double fry bread with a delicious garbanzo secret creation with name-your-level of hot spice available. MITCH drove us and showed us how to master the double. Delicious!
Would have been nice trip without the coincidentes.

3.00One or two families ruined the whole tour. They had their own show. They didn’t sit down on the boat. They were making a lot of noise. I couldn’t take the photos I wanted. I came long way to see the birds. No one helped me out from the boat. I felt down and hurt my leg.

5.00Richard was awesome and very helpful throughout The pick up drop off is separate from the boat ride. The boat ride is filled with wildlife viewing and we saw a lot of scarlet Ibis and other assorted wildlife

5.00Really good experience! I enjoyed the ride, the Scarlet Ibis is beautiful (even got to see a caiman and a snake on a tree hehe) and could enjoy the beautiful landscape of the caroni swamp. The tour operator was amazing, very friendly, on time, and would definately go with them again.

5.00It’s a great trip seeing various birds and animals in the mangrove swamp. Then seeing the flamingoes in the lake and scarlet ibis flying overhead. The transport to and from the sanctuary was excellent too
