Þórsmörk, valley of the Thunder God Thor, sits amongst three sparkling ice caps, Mýrdalsjökull, Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull.
Sights include Gígjökull where powerful glacial floods escaped during the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption. Our local guides will vividly tell you much about this eruption, including stories only locals know about.

Þórsmörk is located between three glaciers and volcanoes, Eyjafjallajokull (the one that erupted in 2010), Tindfjallajökull and Myrdalsjökull. On our way we cross glacial rivers, stop by the most interesting places including Gijokull Glacier - ice tongue of Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, and have short walks around. Inside of Þórsmörk is different hiking possibilities depending on your wishes. On our way to Þórsmörk, we also stop the canyons like Stakkholtsgjá and even at Nauthúsagil, a small beautiful canyon.

5.00Terrific day with experienced and very knowledgeable guide. The weather was outstanding with temps 6-7 and mostly clear. Saw a white arctic fox. Fantastic trip

5.00The Midgard Jeep Tour lets you explore the real Iceland! We went to the south, the Golden Circle, and Reykjavik during our one week in Iceland. My favorite part of the trip, by far, was experiencing the south with Midgard Adventures (and Midgard Basecamp). The Jeep Tour takes you to the Highlands, an area you cannot access on your own. The terrain (especially at the end of winter when we went) requires vehicles that can handle the terrain and unpredictable Icelandic weather. Our drivers were experienced and calculated with how to drive us through this breathtakingly beautiful remote part of Iceland. This is the real Iceland, the unmatched beauty of the glaciers, volcanoes and mountains. It felt personal and non-touristy. My kids, ages 9-14, loved the adventure. They were looking out the windows, asking questions and sliding down a snow hill at the bottom of a glacier. Childhood at its best. I cannot recommend the people at Midgard Adventures and Midgard Basecamp enough! They helped plan our trip through Iceland weeks leading up to our trip and continued communication the entire time we were there to help us navigate the weather and have the best possible experience in Iceland. We had an unforgettable trip full of memories with my family and a fondness for Iceland and the Icelandic people. Midgard makes Iceland even more magical than it already is.

5.00We never knew what to expect, but as you learn quickly, THATS ICELAND! Allesandro was a fantastic guide and several Jeeps got stuck in the deep snow and very wet conditions. Not us!

5.00It was an experience of a lifetime! Truly magical!!! The landscape , the most delicious thoughtfully prepared vegetarian lunch, and most of all the ENTIRE staff both on the tour Palmi and at base camp with the most talented mixologists and friendliest ladies!!! The drinks I had (midguard blueberry mule, midguard strawberry gin with homemade rhubarb syrup!) I have never tasted a cocktail more delicious! ) We had the most nourishing and beautifully presented breakfast at base camp before the adventure . It was wholesome and indulgent , fresh and thoughtfully prepared and presented. The bartender was so kind to let us know she wanted to clean things up a bit before we got our food due to a large group of children just leaving. This vacation is at the top of my list for best all around most wonderful trip for my husband and myself. Gratitude to all of you, Susan and Corey Pimental

5.00The winter tour to Thorsmörk is worth every money, we did it with Raggi as guide and her drove us safely to many untouched places. It is much calmer here then in summer and the countryside is amazing. We even could do a small hiking trip (it was very snowy). Highly recommended !!!
Great offroad adventure

5.00We were expecting a ton of snow but got none! Less adventurous but also more colorful landscapes. The lifted rig with 46 in tires was great. We saw some glaciers, some landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, and 2 arctic foxes while we had lunch. I think our tour guide's name was Palmy, and he was great! We also had dinner at the Midgaard Base Camp and the food was fantastic. I didn't think a hostel-type place would have great food but definitely eat there.

5.00The whole day was brilliant, we loved exploring Thorsmork in the jeep, it was a lot of fun and our guide was great for giving us stories about the landscape and mythology as well as an insight into how the local people still farm the land and cope with volcanic eruptions.
Thorsmork is a must-see in winter

5.00The Super Jeep tour in Thorsmork was amazing! I’ve been in the summer on my own but it was such a great experience with a guide and was so beautiful in December with the snow. Definitely recommend!
Great introduction to Icelandic back country

5.00Solo older female traveler. Tour began with a visit to a black sand beach looking out towards the Westmann Islands. The drive up Þórsmörk valley in the super jeep was exciting. Enjoyed the time to wander and to enjoy the valley views.
