Tikal National Park

Tikal National Park is the most excavated (Mayan?) archaeological site in Central America and one of the most excavated (archaeological) sites in the world. It covers some 57,600 hectares of wetlands and forests and encompasses architectural remains of the Mayan civilization dating from 600 BC to 900 AD. Tikal is the only natural and cultural UNESCO World Heritage site in Central America and one of few in the world with both designations. As such, Tikal is considered one of the top 20 tourist sites in the world and a must see.     All the five-star reviews of Elmer are completely justified! He really brought Tikal alive for me - with his incredibly deep knowledge of the Mayan civilisation and history. He was punctual on the day, having arranged a car and driver to take us to the site. He went at my pace and could not have been more accommodating or helpful. I strongly recommend that anyone who is visiting Flores seeks out Elmer, as he will be able to turn a short visit into memories of a lifetime.

    We did two private tours with Tikal Vip Tours: one in Tikal and the second in Yaxha and Topoxte. Both were well organized and took place according to schedule. We particularly enjoyed our guide to Tikal, Noah, which gave us a lot of interesting information not only about the site visited but, more generally, about the country.

    Good guide, strived for us to enjoy our tour. In one day we were able to know the most important of the ruins, surrounding places and taste some of the local cuisine.

    Excellent experience. We were picked up at 3:30am, drove to the park which was one hour away and then walked to the ruins to see the sunset. The van was new with good air in, very good suspension and our driver was very attentive to give us a safe and enjoyable drive. Our guide was very good and explained all about the history of the site and had excellent eyes and attentive ears to help spot different animals. We were given a true welcome by the howler monkeys as we walked through the forest and saw many parrots and even a toucan as we ascended to the top of the ruins. Highly recommend the sunrise tour as you do not feel the scorching heat and humidity.

    Our tour around Tikal with Elmer was phenomenal. Elmer was so friendly, personable, knowledgeable and had all the answers to any questions we had. He genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible and made sure we got it. They were also able to cater to our dietary requirements, which was really appreciated. The tour was one of the highlights of our excellent time in Guatemala. Would highly recommend 😊

    We had a great experience with Tikal Vip Tours! Everything was nicely organized and very well conmunicated beforehand. We had a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who gave us an incredible amount of information about this magic place! Highly recommended!

    Very good choice as Peten tour, we did Yaxha, Tikkal and the Blue Crater. Hannibal is a great driver, he has accompanied us very well the three days. Oscar great knowledgeable of the Mayan world, taught us the secrets of Yaxha. Elmer, impressive, took us into both the Mayan world and the animal world of the jungle. We are very grateful
