Tikal National Park
The activity begins when we pick you up at your hotel, when booking, please choose the time according to the location of your hotel. In case you don't know the location of your hotel yet, just book the cheapest tour option, later you let us know your hotel location and if there is a price difference, you can pay it to our guide. San Andres: 02h: 00m Tikal has two titles of UNESCO, it's cultural and natural heritage of humanity, that's why we'll spend more than six hours exploring different archeological monuments and to go from monument to monument, we'll use nature trails with a high chance of spotting some species of wildlife.
Temple IV
First thing, we will climb this temple with you to wait for sunrise from the top, enjoying the most wonderful view and the sounds of the waking up wildlife, then we will have breakfast up there. We developed the sunrise tour because our guests deserve to see Tikal first thing in the morning to appreciate wildlife when it is more active as well as at the end of the day. The main attraction of this tour is the awakening of the jungle with the noise of birds and howler monkeys, the sunrise is seen only 20% of the time, as it is usually cloudy or foggy. The official name of this temple is Temple of the Double Headed Serpent, as when the temple was discovered, it had a wooden carved lintel with the sacred double headed serpent carved on it, now this wooden carving is in a famous museum. The nickname of this temple is Temple of Star Wars as back in 1977 the movie director George Lucas came to Tikal to film part of the original Star Wars Movie, Episode IV "A New Hope"

He took such good care of us -- picked us up, fed us several times, walked us through the site and shared all his wonderful knowledge. He also has an amazing eye for birds and animals and helped us see so many fascinating creatures. He has got to be the best guide for Tikal!

5.00Our tour with Marlon began with timely communication which is vitally important for me. He took care of us beginning with offering coffee, hot chocolate and Guatemalan cookies, and more authentic food throughout the trip. He asked us what kind of pace we wanted to walk at and honored that. His knowledge is extensive yet he did not overwhelm us with facts. He showed us toucans, spider and howler monkeys and made our tour very special.

5.00Our tour with Gem Trips was absolutely amazing. We are not the fittest people and our guide Lucio was so patient, gracious and kind. He made sure we stayed hydrated slowed for us when needed and took mini breaks all along the way. He was knowledgeable about the area , the culture, and he really made what was already an amazing experience just so much better. If you are EVER anywhere near this area it is an essential experience everyone should do. It was phenomenal and one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my many travels.

5.00Great experience at Tikal with Jose! We were lucky enough to visit the park on a day where you could clearly see the sunrise. Jose was informative and kind. He was respectful of our time and how long we want to spend at each temple. Would definitely recommend this tour!

5.00Lots of people say it, and I’ve been to several other Mayan and Aztec sights, and it’s true that Tikal is special and the best so far. Starting early is always good and there were lots of animals and sites. The views across the temples are gorgeous. Seeing the sunrise didn’t work as it was too foggy and this might be quite common. But even just hearing the jungle awake was worth it

5.00It was an unbelievable experience. While I found the admission fees and overall pricing to be high, there was no sacrifice on the quality of the tour given. Jose, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. I enjoyed every moment of Tikal and would love to come back!

5.00My family of two grandmums, an 12 & 13 yo, and parents enjoyed the most remarkable time with Marion. He guided us both on our sunrise and sunset experiences. This man is brilliant....Super friendly, super knowlegeable, and extremely patient with this family who stopped at every spider, flower, and bird:) I have to say...I was hesitant about booking through GEM trips because of the cost. A few years ago I went on a sunrise tour with a guide via my lodging. His gaol was to get us in and cared less about anything else. The saying "you get what you pay for" is often true. In our experience, we got More than we paid for during our time with Marion. Each of us truely loved every minute. This time was a highlight of our travels. Thank you Marion.

5.00We were traveling with friends and there were a total of 5 children and we had an amazing time! Our guide ("mysterious man" as per our four year old!) was very accommodating to our group; he brought delicious food for us to eat throughout the day and took the kids on some special stops that were a highlight of our time! We saw Spider Monkeys, Howler Monkeys and learned about Toucans on our tour. I would highly recommend this if you are visiting Tikal!
