What’s the Story?

Peering up in awe at monolithic steel and glass towers, one can’t help but feel small. Capture that feeling in your photographs, juxtaposing tiny human forms against cold and sterile structures. Contrast the artificial and man-made with the organic—hints of nature and human life surrounded by the Tokyo metropolis.

What We’ll Shoot

We will learn how to create compelling images of architectural elements and the people that populate the city’s concrete environs. You’ll be coached on using composition concepts like leading lines, negative space, and juxtaposition. We’ll practice using these techniques to convey a variety of narratives.

Where We’ll Explore

Our journey will begin in Shiodome—a district walled in with glass and steel skyscrapers. From here we will head to Ginza, famed for its broad avenues lined with intricate examples of avant-garde architecture. Afterward, we will end up in Yurakucho where we will explore the innards of the monolithic Tokyo International Forum.

Tokyo is a huge playground for photography and I've always wanted to have the time to take pictures of this megalopolis. I took part in a session (Tokyo Metropolis) with Charles as my guide, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Knowing that I came with my Ricoh GR3 and an IPhone16Pro, he adapted to my setup and showed me the city from another angle. It was a wonderful experience, and on my next trip to Tokyo, I'll be booking another session. Thanks again Charles

I did a night tour of Tokyo and Charles was my Guide. Very fun and educational tour and fantastic to see Tokyo in this way. Charles is a very fine, calm and patient Guide. He helped me a lot. In short, Top tour!!!!

This was an excellent tour around the top street photography spots around Tokyo, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect outing! Charles was knowledgeable and helpful and adaptable to the things I wanted to capture and also encouraged me to see different viewpoints and angles I hadn't seen. Thanks for a great day! Highly recommended for hobby and professional photographers alike.

Another great photographic experience by Eyexplore. This workshop is the perfect complement to the Cyberpunk/Night workshop. Both together provide a great way to experience Tokyo by night and day through the guidance of a talented photography. I highly recommend it.

I did the Cyberpunk tour with professional photographer, Lukasz Palka. I learned a ton from Lukasz, especially about street photography since I do much more landscape. Lukasz was an exceptional teacher, had a large number of great locations we visited, and was an excellent tour guide. When I return to Japan I will definitely book another adventure with Lukasz and EYExplore.

I had a most delightful time with Charles wandering in Tokyo from Temples to Parks to Underpasses to Vending Machines, expanding my practical knowledge of my camera and being introduced to Tokyo. We ended at the top of the Yebisu Tower (38th floor) photographing the sun setting behind Mount Fuji. Perfect! I am looking forward to another Tokyo photo safari when I return!
