The Old Town, is a city of 340 years where you can experience the history and culture of a bygone era. Most of the buildings in this historic city are united in an area of 38 blocks that is called "Casco Viejo", "Casco Antiguo" or "San Felipe". The blocks are called "apples." From the Golden Altar of the Church of San Josè, or the Canal Museum, each corner of this ancient city has some historical significance. More than anything, the sounds and smells that fill the air of the Old Case is an important treasure. Street vendors shout "bun," a Panamanian meal of corn; the cries of presidential guard exercises in the morning; the Kuna Indians who sell their attractive molas on the Promenade of the vaults.
