Your adventure begins as we take you away from Panama City to the pristine wilderness of Chagres National Park. Here, the Embera people will welcome you aboard a traditional canoe for a journey up the river that feeds the famous Panama Canal.
Prepare for breathtaking scenery as you glide through the lush rainforest. Your guide will then lead you on a short hike to a hidden waterfall where you can plunge into its cool, crystal-clear waters.
After your refreshing swim, the Embera community will welcome you into their village to share their ancient culture. Bring water shoes with good grip, hiking sandals or sport shoes that you don't mind if get wet, avoid beach sandals, flip flops or Crocs like because you will be walking on mud, slippery rocks and through water
You can swim in the waterfall with clothes or you could bring swimsuit under clothes because there is no place to change there. There are proper bathrooms at the village where you can change at the end and bring an extra change of clothes for the way back to your accommodation.
Bring cash in case you want to buy souvenirs or have a temporary tattoo.
Mosquito repellant is not needed. Bring sunscreen and hat

5.00This was SO great! My time in Panama was short, only about 60 hours..2.5 days. My second full day was this tour..all day. Alex took us deep into the jungle into one of the seven national parks to a fantastic just..hidden waterfall..wow (what a spot for a honeymoon photo together!). We swam in the pool below and walked on the ledge to the waterfall to take photos. We continued on our journey to meet the Embera indigenous tribe on their island along the canal. What a wonderful time we had..we met everyone, had a beautiful meal of local fruits and fish, took photos, bought their goods and danced together. I recommend Alex and this tour; he did a lot of prep and really took the time to help us enjoy the day. #1 recommendation!

5.00Alex, my guide was very helpful and knowing what to pack and expect on this tour. I really appreciate the accommodations made to pick me up at my location in Amador. Also, I loved that he sent a text message the day before telling me what exactly I needed to bring and not bring and what to expect. That was great. He was also very personable and he helped us during the boat ride, kayaking and waterfall on the rocks and interpreting the Embera guides. For the tour, he bought fresh fruit for us that we later enjoyed as a part of our meal once we finished the waterfall and kayaking. It was a unique experience being in an environment away from the noisy city and seeing the natural beauty of Panama . Witnessing first hand and up close the indigenous people the Enbera people was for me spiritual, a lifetime experience. I thought how lucky I am to be a part of their world and them sharing their culture with people. The waterfall was beautiful and It was refreshing! The tour bus was clean, comfortable and not packed with people. There were only five in our tour group and other reviews I’ve seen they were packed like sardines. I don’t know if it was the same company or not, but they were spoke of being uncomfortable and that NOT the case with this tour operator. I was just grateful everyone had enough space to spread out. The road was nicely paved. Alex was a good driver. I also enjoyed the kayaking, which was a lot of fun. I got my exercise in on this part whew!! The lunch was delicious, fried fish (no batter) plantain patty and fresh fruit. I love to dance so loved the dancing getting a chance to dance with the Enbera. It was just a full day of surprises including seeing a sloth and its natural habitat as well as beautiful butterflies, amazingly colorful and brilliant. A few days later, while viewing the Panama Canal movie, I learned how important the Enbera people are to the country and maintaining the land’s natural resource integrity, protecting this region’s wildlife and land! I wish we had this simple beauty and respect for nature in the states! I cannot speak highly enough about this tour. this was a really cool experience that I will never forget and I won’t have to because I have Enbera tattoo (temporary like Henna) on my left arm LOL!! Im eternally grateful to Alex and this tour Operator. This was a great experience five star!!

5.00Fun experience that's more out the ordinary. Pretty boat ride along the river. I hesitated to get in the water because the water was a bit cold, but deciding to get in and swim to the waterfall and go under and through it was exhilarating, thanks to our awesome guide Alex that helped us over the rocks. At the village, we had a light lunch and the fish was super fresh and delicious and so were the plantains. Interesting learning about the native people that inhabit a good portion of Panama and into Columbia. I thought maybe it'd be a bit of a tourist trap or exploitative but the tour really does help support the Embera economy and keep their culture going.

If you love water, are active, and love being around beautiful people and history, and a calming atmosphere; then this is the excursion for you. Dan, our guide is funny and just the best. We will be back.

3.00It was a tough walk through water & over rocks to the waterfall, the embera tribesman who was with us helped us as much as he could. The other groups who were there were given long sticks to help them balance but we were told our tour leader didn’t have any. The waterfall was nice but crowded and in my opinion we didn’t need to spend an hour there. Then we walked back to the canoe and were taken to the Embera village which was interesting. We heard all about their way of life & history and had lunch & fresh fruit. We were then treated to a show by the villagers who did some traditional dances. Afterwards we could have a temporary tattoo or buy handicrafts. It was a nice tour all in all but in reality it didn’t need to be 7 hours, it could have been done in less time as I felt that there was a lot of waiting around during the trip.
