The day time experience's are held at my beautiful cosy home in Kilcolgan.
I also run some of the experiences at my cafe, Kate's Place, in Oranmore, Orantown centre.
In my home, guests enjoy the homely feel of my Irish kitchen.
In every experience we always discuss the difference between baking bread long ago, compared to nowadays.
I also encourage the use of my fruits and herbs from my garden, where if possible, we avail of seasonal delights.

We will bake fruit, for example lavender, raisons and berry scones (seasonal), and spelt or brown bread. I believe in the hands on experience for my guests - from handling ingredients to kneading dough. It isn't all about the cooking, I share lots of tips from my experience over the years. I love to see the faces full of excitement and joy at the sight of the end product - freshly baked scones and bread. And best of all we have lots of fun. If you're driving from Galway city to Kilcolgan village take the first left after O'Donoghues Bar, you'll get to a T junction after a couple of kilometers, take the left and then take the first right after you drive over the bridge. I'm the last house in this estate and have a purple door.

5.00Katie and John were fun and hospitable. The drive is about 30 minutes outside of Galway. Please make sure to use Google maps not Apple Maps when inputting the directions. We made the most delicious scones and wonderful brown bread and had tea and coffee and enjoyed it!! Can recommend for cooks of all each is Katie owned the restaurants and cafés in town so this is all like a nature for her. He had a fun banter with our 11 and 13-year-old who were a bit shy. Certainly enjoyed the experience highly recommend.

5.00Amazing experience and I felt very welcome in their home. After making scones and bread on the island we sat down and ate the scones with some tea, chatting and looking at the beautiful gardens. Can’t recommend this enough. I was looking for an authentic Irish experience that was a nice slow down to the hustle and bustle of our trip. I loved seeing their dog and they even took me to the bus stop afterwards. Also the food was delicious!

5.00I felt like I was visiting an old friend at her home. Cooking in the kitchen and catching up with a cup of tea. Lovely addition to our vacation. The scones were AhhhhMAZING!!! Purchased an adorable apron in the Galway colors. I can’t wait to make scones for friends back home in Alabama-USA. Thank You Kate for excellent instruction and thanks John for collecting us at the bus stop.

5.00Wow, what a great class! Kate is extremely knowledgeable about baking and she explains everything really well . She is also kind enough to pick you up and drop you off at the Kilcogan bus stop if needed. She's also very funny and gave us a couple pots of tea while waiting. Highly, highly recommended!
