Tranquility Cracks is one of the best lesser-known Table Mountain spots and hiking up to it with an experienced guide is certainly well worth the sweat! Although this day hike doesn't take you to the summit plateau (with city bowl views and the cable car) it does allow for a gorgeous day of hiking in a quieter section of Table Mountain and offers superb views over the Atlantic Seaboard in good weather and an overall unique mountain experience.

The Table Mountain National Park falls within the "Cape Floral Region Protected Areas" UNESCO World Heritage Site and is now listed as one of the New7Wonders of Nature. A circular hike on the Camp's Bay side of Table Mountain (12 Apostles) taking you to approximately 760m ASL, starting at around 190m ASL in Camp's Bay where we cover 10km of trail. There is some flexibility here in terms of ascent route and on the descent however we typically would head up the rocky Corridor Ravine footpath after contouring along the Camp's Bay Pipe Track, explore Tranquility Cracks on the Apostles Spine and then descend Kasteelspoort (after a visit to the cantilevering Diving Board rock outcrop) which one would look at 5-6 hrs as a good estimate duration. Tranquility Cracks is a rock outcrop which has amazing rock formations, deep cracks and fissures and beautiful stunted indigenous trees. We spend the day hiking in the national park, aiming for the Back Table, all the while interpreting the diverse natural environment. The rich diversity of the Fynbos biome is where the emphasis will be on and at anytime of year we'll see beautiful floral species in bloom.

Incredible experience. Justin was an outrageously knowledgeable guide. His knowledge of the terrain is invaluable, and also his recognition of the slightest frog or bird noise will blow you away. Will book again. Already planning to.

Our guide Justin Hawthorne was FANTASTIC! He was so passionate and knowledgeable and taught is so much about the animals and plants native to the area. We really enjoyed our day and the hike was exhilarating. We felt very safe having Justin as our guide but most of all his passion and knowledge made this hike our best experience in cape town. Thanks for taking great care of us and bringing us snacks!
