Your journey begins at Tromsø Skistadion, where your guide welcomes you and provides skis, poles, and boots. After a quick fitting, you’ll start with an easy and supportive introduction to cross-country skiing. The lesson is developed with Olympic champion and co-owner Erik Valnes, giving beginners clear, simple exercises that help you find balance and confidence right from the start.

When you’re ready, you’ll glide into the calm Arctic landscape surrounding Tromsø. The pace is gentle and suitable for all, with plenty of time for photos and to enjoy the winter scenery. Along the way, your guide shares engaging stories about Norway’s skiing culture—how it shaped Viking travel, Sami traditions, and daily life in the north.

Halfway through, you’ll stop for a warm drink and a Norwegian snack before continuing your journey feeling more secure on the skis. The experience ends back at the starting point, leaving you with new skills and a deeper appreciation for Norway’s connection to skiing.

Great!!! Our first experience in cross-country skiing was great and magical. We were in a couple this Monday 09 December to learn about Norwegian national sport. We loved it, the setting is already amazing in Tromse, in the country of cross-country skiing. The winter atmosphere is magical, the fairy paths. We had a small group of 7 beginner skiers like us. But above all we were supervised by 2 great Norwegian guides: Simen and Tony! Very special mention for them, they are great, they are patient, they know how to transmit, they are excellent teachers. And on top of that they are extremely kind. We had a smile all day thanks to their sympathy. They were always with us, we had some nice explanations about the sport, the history, the culture. And we even had a taste of the skis. Really go ahead, you will love spending some time with them, soaking up 100%. We felt like we were Norwegian us!! Thank you again and book quickly this awesome activity!!

Great experience! Really suitable for beginners and great instruction. I wouldn’t be dressing to warm, you will get hot ;) the instructors had sweets and hot prepared.

What an awesome tour! We learned the different skiiing methods. We went skiiing just like you see in the pictures on the website and at TripAdvisor. We had warm cranberry drinks and soft Norwegian snacks called lefsa with cinnamon taste. Simon was great at teaching and coaching us along the ski runs. We highly recommend this tour with Skistromso.com

We did the 3pm session in a small group and had such a great time! We were total beginners, but Johannes made everything feel easy and fun. He was super friendly, patient, and really took care of us. It was a perfect introduction to cross-country skiing, and we totally recommend it.

The BEST experience. Jakob and Eric are the best guides and instructors. They are so patient, helpful and skilled. They give off great vibes. It’s like spending the afternoon with friends. There’s lots of businesses that offer this experience in Tromso but I strongly recommend you book these guys. I started off with zero skill, could barely stand up. By the end of it I was flying (probably not but felt like it)

We had the most wonderful tour with these very experienced guides who gave us such personal care and went out of their way for us to have a good time. The activity was made so easy to take part in and enjoyable for everyone in our family. The added bonus was chatting away with the guides like old friends in our small group. Highly recommend this as an activity to add to your time in Tromso!
