This is not another walking tour. These small group tours whisk you off the beaten path by private tuktuk and offer unlimited beer and soda while you and your English speaking guide watch the city pass by. You will eat where the locals eat at small, family-run businesses and try the best local food at places you can’t find on your own. After 3-4 hours, you will finish at local bar to try some rice wine or beer with the locals!

There are a million reasons Chengdu is an international food destination. It’s a UNESCO city of gastronomy. It’s the most popular Chinese cuisine in China. It has the highest per-capita ratio of restaurants in all of China. And at the same time, visitors know very little about food in Chengdu. Travel by tuktuk and encounter spots you could never find on your own for a mix of street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run joints: Chengdu Street Crepes: This classic local street food comes in one of 4 flavor profiles: sweet, salty, spicy, and strange at a street-stall-turned-shop. Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals call them “Chaoshou,” at a family restaurant where they’re made to order. All the Noodles: Originally served on the street by men who carried the ingredients around on bamboo poles, Dandan noodles are possibly the OG hawker dish. Classic Sichuan Dishes: Sample local delicacies like Mapo Tofu (there’s plenty of not-so-spicy dishes here too).

A really fantastic experience and a great way to discover Chengdu beyond the usual tourist spots and eat like a local. Monica was an excellent guide— insightful, knowledgeable, and warm. She took us to places she has known since she was young, shared their history, explained the local dishes we were tasting, and offered a truly unique window into Chengdu’s food culture.

We had a great experience trying food on this tour in Chengdu with Fiona. As a guide she was friendly, spoke great english, and informative both in local food and China in general. The Tuktuk was a fun experience, we had a brave/bold driver. We always felt safe and well taken care of. The places we stopped were local, authentic, clean, and delicious food to try! Plenty of food!! Also beers or beverage along the way. We highly recommend and would use this service again in a different location. Thank you!

Amazing experience, we got to try restaurants and foods that we otherwise never would have. Great value for money. Our guide, George, was wonderful the entire evening. I highly recommend this tour!

The guide Fiona was very communicative and friendly. She took the group to the best eating spots which extremely tasty. She also provided drink, including beers and some baijiu for those who wanted a taste. I would highly recommend booking this tour as you visit Chengdu since this city is known for its delicious food which you will be able to taste during this experience. You can also ask the guide for specific recommendations according to your taste.

I've done quite a few tours in China, and George has been the best guide I've had! He was so friendly and kind, and he gave us so much information about the food and the history of each dish. He was just great company throughout the night - very chatty, warm, and accommodating. The food was also amazing and the plum wine was lovely. Would 100% do this tour again in the future without hesitation.

Your was a lot of fun and Daisy was great. The downside is that Dan Dan noodles back home are forever ruined by comparison to the ones we had on this tour.

Fantastic evening. Multiple stops, tons of food, got to try so much from iconic restaurants. Out host Susan was fantastic knowledgeable and thoughtful, and our drivers were great also. Loved having the stories and history attached to the dishes. Had a wonderful time with this group. We were like a little family by the end of it. Highly recommend.

This was a great good tour. Lots of delicious food and a warm wonderful opportunity to learn about the culture and cuisine of Chengdu. George the guide was terrific. He shared a lot of information that was both useful and fascinating. Highly recommend adding this to your Chengdu itinerary.
