This is not another walking tour. These small group tours whisk you off the beaten path by private tuktuk and offer unlimited beer and soda while you and your English speaking guide watch the city pass by. You will eat where the locals eat at small, family-run businesses and try the best local food at places you can’t find on your own. After 3-4 hours, you will finish at local bar to try some rice wine or beer with the locals!

There are a million reasons Chengdu is an international food destination. It’s a UNESCO city of gastronomy. It’s the most popular Chinese cuisine in China. It has the highest per-capita ratio of restaurants in all of China. And at the same time, visitors know very little about food in Chengdu. Travel by tuktuk and encounter spots you could never find on your own for a mix of street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run joints: Chengdu Street Crepes: This classic local street food comes in one of 4 flavor profiles: sweet, salty, spicy, and strange at a street-stall-turned-shop. Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals call them “Chaoshou,” at a family restaurant where they’re made to order. All the Noodles: Originally served on the street by men who carried the ingredients around on bamboo poles, Dandan noodles are possibly the OG hawker dish. Classic Sichuan Dishes: Sample local delicacies like Mapo Tofu (there’s plenty of not-so-spicy dishes here too).
Chengdu
End the night trying house-made plum wine in a 70s-80s themed bar that captures a unique turning point in China’s history. The bar is a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

5.00My wife and I did the Chengdu food tour this evening. It was truly a 5 star experience. Our guide Monica was exceptional. Her English is fluent and her passion for her City and its food was a joy to see. If you are in Chengdu do not miss this tour particularly if you are lucky enough to have Monica as your guide.

5.00Our evening food tour with Lost Plate was one of the highlights of my trip to Chengdu. Our guide, Iris, was awesome—she knew all the best hidden spots and gave us the real backstory on everything we ate. We zipped through the backstreets in a tuk-tuk and had a ton of spicy Sichuan food. It was the perfect way to spend a night. If you’re heading to Chengdu, definitely book this!

5.00A really fantastic experience and a great way to discover Chengdu beyond the usual tourist spots and eat like a local. Monica was an excellent guide— insightful, knowledgeable, and warm. She took us to places she has known since she was young, shared their history, explained the local dishes we were tasting, and offered a truly unique window into Chengdu’s food culture.

5.00We had a great experience trying food on this tour in Chengdu with Fiona. As a guide she was friendly, spoke great english, and informative both in local food and China in general. The Tuktuk was a fun experience, we had a brave/bold driver. We always felt safe and well taken care of. The places we stopped were local, authentic, clean, and delicious food to try! Plenty of food!! Also beers or beverage along the way. We highly recommend and would use this service again in a different location. Thank you!

5.00The guide Fiona was very communicative and friendly. She took the group to the best eating spots which extremely tasty. She also provided drink, including beers and some baijiu for those who wanted a taste. I would highly recommend booking this tour as you visit Chengdu since this city is known for its delicious food which you will be able to taste during this experience. You can also ask the guide for specific recommendations according to your taste.
