This is not another walking tour. These small group tours whisk you off the beaten path by private tuktuk and offer unlimited beer and soda while you and your English speaking guide watch the city pass by. You will eat where the locals eat at small, family-run businesses and try the best local food at places you can’t find on your own. After 3-4 hours, you will finish at local bar to try some rice wine or beer with the locals!

There are a million reasons Chengdu is an international food destination. It’s a UNESCO city of gastronomy. It’s the most popular Chinese cuisine in China. It has the highest per-capita ratio of restaurants in all of China. And at the same time, visitors know very little about food in Chengdu. Travel by tuktuk and encounter spots you could never find on your own for a mix of street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run joints: Chengdu Street Crepes: This classic local street food comes in one of 4 flavor profiles: sweet, salty, spicy, and strange at a street-stall-turned-shop. Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals call them “Chaoshou,” at a family restaurant where they’re made to order. All the Noodles: Originally served on the street by men who carried the ingredients around on bamboo poles, Dandan noodles are possibly the OG hawker dish. Classic Sichuan Dishes: Sample local delicacies like Mapo Tofu (there’s plenty of not-so-spicy dishes here too).
Chengdu
End the night trying house-made plum wine in a 70s-80s themed bar that captures a unique turning point in China’s history. The bar is a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

5.00We had a fabulous tour with Iris our guide. Secret local destinations which we wouldn't have found otherwise. Plenty of food and unlimited drinks. Generous with any choice of beers. Included Baijiu and plum wine. Would definitely recommend

5.00This was a fantastic experience. Our first food tour and it was so good we will do tours like this again, ideally with Lost Plate. The food choices were excellent options and plentiful. My husband is vegetarian and this was catered for without fuss. And we got plenty to drink. Iris our host was really informative and engaging. And she got the group we were with in good spirits.

5.00We had a fantastic experience with Lost Plate in Chengdu. Our guide, Claire, was an absolute delight whose enthusiasm was infectious. She shared helpful, interesting information about each dish, and all of the stops were thoughtfully organized. It was a perfect sample of a cuisine that was largely new-to-us. Plus, the TukTuk rides were a total blast and provided a unique way of seeing Chengdu. I highly recommend this tour for those interested in immersing themselves in Chengdu's food culture and learning more about the city. Thank you, Claire!

5.00The food is excellent, local specialities, great locations, excellent guide. Five locations chosen for their unique experience and expertise. Delicious food at each one. A well organised, super friendly, veey knowledgeable guide in Claire, a Chengdu native. The tuk tuk drivers are also fabulous, thank you Mr Tho. They navigate the road with ease. Lost Plate do amazing tours, this is our second food one and third overall. If in South East Asia do one of their tours, they are excellent.

5.00I've done quite a few food tours and this is probably one of the most fun I've ever done. Our tour guide Fiona did a great job of bringing the group together, introducing us to all the delicious foods from local places - I'd highly recommend this tour if you're in Chengdu and want to discover some of the wonderful food Chengdu has to offer.

5.00Must do food tour!! Delicious food and drinks and the tour guide Fiona was really lovely and informative and even gave us recommendations for other activities and restaurants for the rest of our stay. Could not recommend a lost plates food tour more!
Great tour let down by the main restaurant

3.00Iris was a fantastic guide who spoke English very well. Most of the restaurants we stopped at were great and we certainly tried some very good Dan Dan Noodles and Tonshou. What let this tour down was the last restaurant we attended. The food was mediocre compared to our meals we ate on other tours. The evening finished in a very eclectic wine bar which we loved. One thing to point out is that the tour does not end at the meeting place as specified on Viator. The score of this review should not be seen as a reflection on the guide or her efforts, but rather on the quality of the food at a specific establishment and the tour not ending at the place specified.
