This is not another walking tour. These small group tours whisk you off the beaten path by private tuktuk and offer unlimited beer and soda while you and your English speaking guide watch the city pass by. You will eat where the locals eat at small, family-run businesses and try the best local food at places you can’t find on your own. After 3-4 hours, you will finish at local bar to try some rice wine or beer with the locals!

There are a million reasons Chengdu is an international food destination. It’s a UNESCO city of gastronomy. It’s the most popular Chinese cuisine in China. It has the highest per-capita ratio of restaurants in all of China. And at the same time, visitors know very little about food in Chengdu. Travel by tuktuk and encounter spots you could never find on your own for a mix of street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run joints: Chengdu Street Crepes: This classic local street food comes in one of 4 flavor profiles: sweet, salty, spicy, and strange at a street-stall-turned-shop. Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals call them “Chaoshou,” at a family restaurant where they’re made to order. All the Noodles: Originally served on the street by men who carried the ingredients around on bamboo poles, Dandan noodles are possibly the OG hawker dish. Classic Sichuan Dishes: Sample local delicacies like Mapo Tofu (there’s plenty of not-so-spicy dishes here too).
Chengdu
End the night trying house-made plum wine in a 70s-80s themed bar that captures a unique turning point in China’s history. The bar is a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

5.00Many couples and a family with a 7yr old and multiple generations. Made for interesting conversations. I asked the 7yr old to show me how to use chopsticks. She said "practice picking up a peanut. When you can, your an expert". The food was excellent so good we ate too much and were unable to appreciate the final banquet dinner. An excellent spread, and excellent range of foods.

5.00This was my second food tour with Lost Plate and fully enjoyed my experience. Their tours are very well organized. Monica was especially friendly, knowledgeable , well prepared and it shows she loves her job. Thank you for showing me a great evening and delicious and authentic cuisine! Loved it!

5.00It was a brilliant experience ably led by George who very knowledgeable, very kind and caring towards the group. We went to places we would never have found without Lost Plate. Very authentic, educational and entertaining. A great way to see the real Chengdu. Highly recommended

5.00Extremely nice and language knowledgeable (English) tour guide, insanely nice fellow travelers and a fantastic mix of the dichuan cuisine. A great evening, it can only be recommended to anyone especially the ride with the Tuktuk was extremely practical.

2.00The guide was really good. However this is way too expensive and the food is mediocre. You could go to several top rated restaurants for the price of this and get vastly better food.

5.00Our guide Monica came straight to us at the metro station, the meeting place. Very nice lady which by her time in Chicago she spoke more than good English. With the tuktuk we drove through Chengdu. This food tour takes you to places you would never find/visit as a tourist. Perhaps the best food tasted in China on this tour of our entire trip. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to get off the beaten track and taste real local food in a relaxing way.
