Go behind the scenes of a Top 10 Iditarod Kennel and learn about dog sledding from expert mushers. Watch first hand as your dog team takes a series of commands that will leave you spellbound. Learn what “Gee” and “Haw” mean, see an active eagle’s nest nearby, enjoy a presentation on dog mushing, and cuddle some adorable husky puppies. This hands-on tour is a must do for Alaskan visitors.

What To Expect
Turning Heads Kennel
Our guide will take you in to meet our sled dogs. You will experience their love of the sport of mushing by going on an interactive training run by going dog sledding with us on a wheeled cart.

5.00Added this experience on last-minute the day before we got off of our cruise ship and it turned out to be one of our family’s favorite stops! We learned a lot about the iditarod race / culture, were treated to a thrilling dogsled ride around the grounds, and snuggled with 1 month old puppies. It was a dream! The guys who led the tour were very knowledgeable and experienced. 100% recommend if you are in the area or just passing through Seward.

5.00This excursion was amazing. The animals are very well cared for and the staff was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the pups and sport. You’re able to interact with all the dogs and watch them get hooked up to the trailer that you’ll be sitting on while getting pulled through the woods. You’ll see the dogs become super excited to get chosen to pull the trailer. It was a 10/10 experience.

The dogs were sweet and energetic, we learned a lot about sledding that my young sons were actually able to tell others about several days later so you could tell they actually paid attention, the cart ride was faster than we expected and so much fun, and who doesn't love getting to cuddle PUPPIES!! Yes, our family had a fabulous time. :)
