One of the world’s oldest art museums, the Uffizi was built by architect Giorgio Vasari in the 16th century to house government offices. It was only later that the building was used to showcase art collected by Florence’s ruling Medici family, and not until 1769 that it was turned into a public museum. The repository of more 1,500 works dating from Greek times to the 18th century, the core of the Uffizi is its unmissable collection of Renaissance art. Expect that it will be very crowded and difficult to navigate with the group and as a result difficult to see some of the works referenced. The stairs climbing up was a was a bit exhaustive. The works inside the Uffizi are exceptional beyond words. Expect to be bombarded with amazing art. Our guide Angela was very informative and narrated. The stories behind selected works. We were hardly able to see everything but could stay after and see what we had missed.

Really great abridged tour - Paulina was exceptional - we got extremely deep in only 1.5 hours covering medieval and working our way through renaissance with amazing notes throughout, hitting all the best pieces/artists.

Not an "art" person, but our guide Sarah brought the artwork to life. Explaining things that I would have never noticed. She was an art history major and was absolutely fabulous. I could have listened to her for hours. I definitely would recommend this tour.
