Our journey begins in downtown Newport, just by the Newport Visitor Center. As we set off into the heart of Newport, we'll dive into the past to learn about Newport's hey-day: the Gilded Age. This era of nouveau-riche American elites like the Vanderbilts and Astors has been marked by gorgeous mansions. We'll explore the architecture and architects behind these designs as drive. Note: The tour is over 10+ miles long per tour, with more than 30+ audio stories per tour, and takes about 2-3 hours per tour to complete. Buy once, use for one year! 4.00I Am sooo glad we did the driving tour. It took us places we didn’t know were there and we would never have seen. To get the best experience look for places to pull over, park, and really listen to the stories.

2.00It started pretty good, but during the road trip it will skip some stops or it will start and then abruptly stoped in the middle of the sentences even if I was driving pretty slow.

5.00This is useful and well organized. It runs off of your cellphone, and allows a good amount of control to stop and restart, plus links very well through some kind of GPS signal to keep track of where you are automatically, thereby adjusting what the narrator is saying to where you actually are, as well as giving you a map of directions. A well thought out product.
Customers read carefully- no visitor center in the location indicated!

3.00Ok so right away we had problems getting the app to work, as others reported. We called the number we were given and got a voicemail! I sent an email and never received an email. Finally someone called us back and he had such a thick accent we could hardly understand him. We finally got the program working and couldn’t control the volume for the introduction. The associate said we had to go to the first location listed and we spent 30 minutes trying to locate it-the visitor center. Every sign indicated it was in the transportation center(bus station) but there were no signs when we got there. I asked a worker at the aquarium if she knew where the information center was and she said it used to be in the same building as the bus station but it wasn’t there anymore! I have been to Newport numerous times so I decided to head to Bellevue Ave, which was stop number ?, and the narration began when we arrived there and we were finally able to control the volume. All of this took us over an hour…a wasted hour!!

4.00Tried my first ever car audio tour through Viator for the Newport RI gilded age "cottages." I really enjoyed the narration that shared history and interesting stories not only about the properties, but other notable properties and areas as well. The ease of stopping the audio to walk around a property or tour a mansion was great. I did have some issues with connectivity in one of two places when the audio seemed to skip sections, however overall I really enjoyed it.
