My friend and I signed up for the 3-night tour. We had the 'luxury' version - tent cabins vs. sleeping bags on the ground. Accommodations were modest, but comfortable. Every day we were up before sunrise to drive to our next hiking location. Braving the cold, and the sprint to the bathroom facilities before a quick breakfast, was all worthwhile when our next stunning trail came into view. Lunch might be at some intermediate camp, before moving on to another adventure and stop at our camp for the night. Delicious meals materialized seemingly out of nowhere, and everyone pitched in to slice, dice, and help clean up. Our amiable group was made up a lot of young people with work visas from all over the world (Japan, France, Italy), a father and son from England, a mother and daughter from Australia, a traveling nurse from Australia, and my friend and I, the two older Americans on the trip. We older ones tended to slip into our tents early, while the younger ones slid into their sleeping swags, arrayed around a robust campfire. Our tour leader, Mishka, somehow made order out of chaos each day and delivered an unforgettable experience!

Sunrise at Uluru was very special. Lachie our tour guide dropped us off away from other groups so we could enjoy the peace and solitude. He was a great guide- capable with an easy going manner, entertaining, sensitive to individual needs . Brilliant trip. Only negative comment was my pick up time in Alice 5.40am was wrong (maybe mix up between Viator and Adventure tours)

The sights were amazing, especially Kings Canyon. The people were even better. Such a memorable experience we shared with people from all over the world. Ty, the guide, was exceptional in all regards.

Great trip overall! Positives: Respect for the land and its original inhabitants. The contrast between this outfit and the other tour groups we encountered was stark. If you care about that sort of thing, go with this one; if not… The hike around the base of Uluru at sunrise was amazing. The sun rises behind you, so you’re not seeing the sun come up with the Uluru in the foreground; what you are seeing is Uluru appearing to glow bright orange over a landscape the sun hasn’t yet hit. King’s Canyon/Garden of Eden - ridiculously beautiful. Getting up early - perhaps this is a negative for some, but it kept us from hiking in the heat of the day and also gave us some time in these enchanting places without crowds. Knowledgeable guide - obviously I have a sample size of one here but he described the training they go through so I suspect they’re all quite good. In any case, Tye was a rock star in the field. Negatives Booking confusion… I got an email 2-3 days before the trip with some unclear information (specifically as to whether I needed a sleeping bag). My trip left on a Sunday morning. I was traveling Friday and didn’t reply until toward the end of the day. Didn’t reach anyone by phone, didn’t get a reply though their chat - no worries, website says they’re open Saturdays. No reply or answer again Saturday… outgoing message on their phone says I’m calling outside of business hours (website hours say otherwise); uncertainty all day Saturday as to whether I have what I need until I get a very late message Saturday evening saying I’m all set. Bottom line: you need a bag if you’re staying out in a swag; you don’t if you’re in a tent. If you book a tent and get a message that you need a bag, ignore it. Organization at camp… as amazing as our guide was in the field, things weren’t always well run at camp. We’re all supposed to participate; if given direction most will. I think our guide sometimes just thought it was easier to do it himself than direct others. This led to things taking longer, which led to us sometimes rushing unnecessarily. 30 minutes at the Uluru Cultural Center isn’t even close to enough time. And we had plenty of downtime at camp later that day… so there was time to give.
