Uluwatu Temple
Uluwatu Temple is closely related with a Holyman named Mpu Kuturan who come to Bali island in the year 1039 AD, and in the time there were few Cults founded in Bali, all of them live in harmony and tolerated each other. Then by him unify all cults become Tri Murti concepts. And on his spiritual journey, which at the time he builts 17 temples and one of them is Uluwatu temple.
Kecak and Fire Dance
Kecak Dance is played by about 50 men by shouting the words CHAK, and the theme story that they played taken from history of Ramayana. This was the final day of our 5-day tour in Bali, starting from Ubud. As I mentioned in all my previous reviews, I have already written detailed descriptions of our guide Wayan — but I want to repeat them here as well for anyone who might be reading only this single review. Once again, Wayan was extraordinary. His kindness, professionalism, calm personality and deep knowledge of Bali made every day of this trip feel effortless and perfectly organised. He always knew when to give us space and when to step in with explanations, and he continued to amaze us with his ability to drive all around the island without using GPS, choosing faster and smoother routes every time. Above all, he remained flexible, thoughtful and genuinely invested in ensuring we enjoyed every moment of the tour. The planned pick-up time for this day was 12:00, but since we had asked Wayan on the very first day if he could take us somewhere to see silk manufacturing, he remembered our request and kindly offered to start the tour an hour earlier — at 11:00 AM — so that we could visit both a silk workshop and a silver-making workshop before beginning the main itinerary. It was a completely unexpected gesture and yet another demonstration of how attentive and considerate he is. After visiting the two workshops, we headed to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, home to several impressive statues, including the massive 120-meter-tall statue of Garuda Wisnu — one of the tallest statues in the world. The scale of the sculpture is breathtaking, but we were equally fascinated by the other statues in the park, especially the huge Garuda bird statue, which is remarkably well crafted and deserves just as much attention. From there, we visited the Uluwatu Temple, a dramatic clifftop temple overlooking the Indian Ocean. The view alone is stunning — waves crashing against the rocks below, sea birds flying along the coast, and the entire temple complex standing proudly above the cliffs. However, there is one important thing to know: the monkeys at Uluwatu are nothing like the monkeys in the Ubud Monkey Forest. While the ones in Ubud were calm and uninterested in tourists, the monkeys at Uluwatu are extremely mischievous and have a reputation for stealing personal belongings. Phones, sunglasses, bags, hair clips, even prescription glasses — nothing is safe. For this reason, I left my glasses in the car, and my girlfriend held her phone tightly the entire time. What makes this even more surprising is that there are no signs or warnings inside the temple informing visitors of this issue. Wayan, always attentive and caring, constantly warned other tourists (even those who were not part of our tour) to be careful with their belongings. At one point, a girl had her prescription glasses stolen by a monkey, and Wayan immediately ran over to help her. He opened his waist bag — which, as he later told us, he always fills with small food packets every time he brings tourists to Uluwatu — and used them to negotiate with the monkey until he successfully retrieved the glasses for her. This was not part of his job, nor was she part of our group. He simply did it because he is genuinely kind and responsible. After visiting the temple, we walked to the open-air amphitheater overlooking the ocean to attend the Kecak and Fire Dance, which begins right at sunset. The setting is incredible: a circular amphitheater on the edge of the cliff, with the sun slowly descending into the ocean behind the performers. The dance itself is unique, hypnotic and deeply cultural — and seeing it against a burning orange sky made it one of the most unforgettable moments of our trip. It is absolutely worth experiencing. After the show, we headed to Jimbaran Beach for dinner. This is the only part of the day that was less than ideal. Due to the rainy season, the ocean had brought a considerable amount of plastic and debris onto the shore. Wayan explained that during this season the rivers overflow, carrying trash down from inland areas, and the ocean eventually pushes it back onto the beaches. It was sad to see, but it is not the fault of the restaurant or the tour itself — simply a seasonal phenomenon. Despite this, the atmosphere of dining on the beach remained quite special. And as always, Wayan reminded us that if we ever preferred to change the dinner location or adjust the plan in any way, he was happy to adapt. Overall, this final day was a perfect conclusion to an already extraordinary 5-day tour. From the cultural park to the dramatic cliffs of Uluwatu, the unforgettable sunset performance, and the beachside dinner — everything was memorable. But above all, what made it truly exceptional was Wayan. His kindness, attention, flexibility, and willingness to go far beyond what any guide would normally do made our entire Bali experience unique and deeply meaningful. If you plan to visit Bali, I cannot recommend this tour enough — and I strongly suggest asking specifically for Wayan. Guides like him are incredibly rare. He made every single day of our trip unforgettable.

Great driver, very knowledgeable and informative. Helping us with admission, taking pictures and keeping the cheeky monkeys at bay, especially as they where jumping on some people and running off with their sunglasses 😎

The tour was easy and convenient to do. The guide picked me up directly from my hotel and took me to the temple for some photos then a show at sunset. The show itself was engaging and included explanation. We ended the tour with some great seafood in Jimbaran.

Really comfortable vehicle and excellent guiding by the amazing Rudy, really good insight into Uluwatu but also ensured we got the most out of the experience. We opted not to include dinner to have some flexibility as not big eaters but the rest was included and Rudy made the experience very smooth so no worries anywhere. Highly recommended.

A must visit place. Beautiful view of the Indian Ocean with the sunset. Be careful of the monkeys though. They tend to have a liking for sunglasses and specs, so keep all your loose items secured. Our guide Irwan was excellent. Super safe driver and an experienced guide. He brought along a retractable baton to keep the monkeys away from us. We did not have to worry about anything as Irwan settled everything from admission tickets to meal arrangements for us. All we had to do was take in the view and enjoy the show. Highly recommended!!

Jacky was a great driver and guide! He was very nice, and made sure we were safe from any monkeys on the temple grounds. Helped when half of the group were tired and went home early. Would definitely book a trip with Jacky again! He was lively. We all had a great time!
