  Touring with Christian was easily the highlight of our trip to Panama. We went to Pueblo Nuevo—a gorgeous cave that ended in a picturesque pool—and everyone in our group appreciated different aspects of the trip. My husband loved picking Christian’s brain, discovering not only typical touristy information about the country and scenery but hearing about nitty gritty nuances of Panamanian culture and infrastructure, engaging in authentic boots-on-ground dialogue—in flawless English no less! My kids were enamored with the adventure of spelunking: walking and swimming through the beautiful cave and seeing wildlife within inches of us (including caimans!) was fascinating, awe-inspiring, and at times a bit scary—but it was at all times exhilarating! I loved everything about our day, but one of the highlights was getting a glimpse into an indigenous space: when we arrived at Lago Bayano—the lake we crossed to get to the cave—we connected with Manuel who is a part of a local native tribe. We only saw a small part of the village, but what we saw brought up interesting family conversations. Manuel himself was exceptionally kind to our boys, pointing out different animals of interest and ensuring their safety at each turn. Christian was always present and active, and he was consistently thoughtful. He regularly took photos and videos of our family, and he was gracious when any of our family members (always the middle son, let’s be real) were a bit “extra”. After our tremendous experience at Pueblo Nuevo, we decided to work with Christian again and island hop in the Caribbean, departing from Portobelo. We explored mangroves, swam at idyllic beaches, and saw live coral ecosystems. It was a truly magical experience that transcends words. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a personalized, off-the-beaten path experience, Christian is your guy, and not just because you will adventure, learn, and be thoroughly engaged but because he is kind and authentically “good people”.

  We had an amazing adventure in the caves. This is an activity that definitely needs a guide as you take a boat (coordinated with a local) to get there. At times you wade through waist high water so I think it is best for teens through adults but we heard that younger kids have done it. While in the caves we saw bats and a caiman as well as stalagmites. Highly recommend

  As seasoned travelers we are always looking for an adventure that goes a little bit further. Bayano Cave is absolutely that special experience that really made us feel as though it was a cave different from any other that we had been to. We were pleased with the safety measures in place, and also happy when the call was made to turn around.... we definitely would have liked to see the final chamber, but rain made this difficult and our safety was put first. Really a nice day on the lake, enjoying time with Christian - a wealth of information, and bonding with everyone else helping along the way.

  Beautiful experience. Got to meet locals, take a boat ride, and explore a cave. Great tour guide. Definitely recommend.

  My son and I had a blast in the Bayano Caves! Our guide Christian was awesome!!! I would highly recommend this experience! A must do!!
